3 – Explore Lewa Downs Lewa Downs
Enjoy
an incredible wildlife experience on Lewa Downs, a stunning

all the Big Five, large herds of plains animals and
the one of Africa's most important black rhino populations.
Lewa is home to over 420 species of birds, Reticulated
Giraffe, Cheetah and many other endangered species.
The reserve was created in the late 1980s from a former
cattle ranch by the owners, the Craig family. The initial
purpose was to preserve the last remaining black rhino
in northern Kenya; however the reserve has grown in
importance for all species and now acts as a catalyst
for communities across northern Kenya to conserve their
wildlife and natural environment. Your stay will provide
fascinating insight into the important work of Lewa
in this respect.
