The deep sea fishing moorings are nearby for those who wish to try angling our famed Sailfish and Marlin. Plaza Beach Hotel is a 5 minute walk to Haller Park, which is a remarkable restoration of a huge disused quarry that now has diverse bird and animal life, a lake, a jogging and biking track and an exercise circuit. It also houses an amazing butterfly farm. Down the road, only a 10 minute drive, you can visit the famous Owen and Mzee, a baby hippo that was orphaned by the tsunami and 'adopted' by a tortoise over 90 years old. They are still together now.
