Here, an amazing panorama unfolds: a collapsed volcano spanning 102 miles, home to lion, rhino, hippo, hyena and antelope by the thousand. We will explore this wildlife wonderland in our exclusive use, four-wheel drive vehicles, ideal for game-viewing in this environment. Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1
Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
(Distance: 190 km approximately 4 hours drive. Pick up from your hotel in Arusha Town).

Fly to Lake Manyara from Arusha and drive to Ngorongoro Crater with unique views of the high altitude rain forest surrounding the rim. Lunch at your lodge. Afternoon descend to the crater for game viewing. Ngorongoro Serena Lodge built into the rim of a dormant volcano. The plant and ivy-covered native stone blends perfectly with the surroundings. Guest rooms have private terraces with views of the crater floor where countless animals make their home. This collapsed caldera is 610 meters deep and has a floor 18 km wide. Views from the rim of the crater are spectacular. The crater has become a unique conservation area where Lion, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo roam in perfect safety.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro Crater—one of the natural wonders of the world. A spectacular game haunt, the 102-square-mile crater is a perfect caldera, one of the largest on earth. Millions of years ago a smoldering volcano collapsed, creating the crater and a home for thousands of animals amidst its many types of vegetation grown and nourished over the centuries. Over 30,000 animals live here: prides of lion, elephant, leopard, cheetah and giraffe, gazelle by the thousands and multitudes of wildebeest. Uniquely beautiful, we will never see its like's again. We spend a memorable morning ensconced in the crater, exploring its breadth and depth. And tonight, as we delight in another luscious meal at this exceptional lodge, we are once again stunned by the beauty of the orange sunset that hovers in the wild African sky, signaling the end to yet another unforgettable day on safari.
