Kenya's Rift Valley is a "mini lodge" located
on a plateau on the eastern edge of Kenya's Great Rift
Valley, just over an hour's drive south west of Nairobi
centre. L'ol Dacha hotel may be used on exclusive basis
for private groups or for individual bookings, offering
plenty of privacy. Situated on the edge of a ridge between
two gorges on an 80 acre private estate, the beautiful
view from this hotel stretches across Africa's Great
Rift Valley. On clear days you can see for hundreds
of miles into Tanzania to the south and over to the
distant Nguruman escarpment to the west.
L'ol dacha hotel guests stay in stone cottages with
bathrooms en suite. All are ultra casual and guests
can cool off in the splash pool or simply unwind in
this peaceful scenery. There is a general purpose day
room with split level dining room and kitchen attached.
L'ol dacha hotel has 3 self-contained cottages with
cold water washrooms. However, the outdoor solar heated
shower with sun deck offers very hot water at all times.
L'ol
dacha hotel cottages are powered by generator, cooking
is by gas, BBQ or solar cooker. Two very large efficient
cool boxes available to keep food and drink. Guests
however have to bring their food and drink.

L'ol dacha hotel buildings are constructed from stones
and boulders dug from the surrounding land and are built
into the hillside to blend in with the natural environment.
There is a general purpose day room with split level
dining room and kitchen attached. There are three self-contained
double units with cold water washrooms, and a 'log cabin'-cum-general-purpose
evening room with a further double unit attached.
L'ol
dacha hotel has two solar heated showers (one is outdoors)
offer very hot water. The outdoor shower with sundeck
for drying must boast one of the most scenic views in
the world (as does the long drop). There is a little
'grass-house' offering two extra beds when necessary.

Simply relax and enjoy the distant vistas while sipping
cool drinks by the pool

Binoculars always at hand to check out the birds and
animals nearby Colorful resident birds (woodpeckers,
sun birds, weaverbirds, starlings) feed just a few feet
from the veranda

Game is shy, but most days one will see the resident
Chandler's reedbuck, and often, klipspringer, eland,
baboon and the very occasional leopard, buffalo and
aardvark
*
Explore a variety of scenic walking tours, either gentle
circular tours on the plateau for those more adventurous,
down to the floor of the gorge on the east or west.
On the plateau walks you will find a multitude of different
species of natural indigenous flora. The more adventurous
walks down to the normally dry riverbeds pass caves
still in use by the local Masai on ceremonial occasions.
