Kusini House Kizingoni Beach Lamu is a beautiful luxurious villa on Kizingoni Beach which is on Lamu Island just off the North Kenyan coast. Kusini sleeps eight guests in four spacious rooms, it is fully staffed including a chef and a boat captain for the private speed boat.

Kusini House Kizingoni Beach Lamu is the house of the South Monsoon Wind, has a very distinctive sand castle style. Like its neighbor, Jahazi House, it is built of coral block plastered in the local Meru finish, tinted a soft ochre yellow. However, the inner courtyard is more of a walled garden with two separate en-suite visitors’ rooms in the sea facing corners.

Kusini House Kizingoni Beach Lamu has been designed in the Swahili style, with traditional plaster work and wooden beams and has gorgeous carved entrance door, Kusini has been furnished with stunning and sympathetic items from around the world.

The grassed, frangipani studded courtyard frames a large freshwater swimming pool, with long generous lounging steps to the side, that do not interfere with length swimmers, while providing an ideal haven for the less energetic.

Kusini House Kizingoni Beach Lamu main house has two large verandas, one overlooking the pool on the ground floor level; the first floor veranda overlooks the pool, the sea and the sunset. Here is the sundowner bar and a splendid master bedroom with two en-suite bathrooms, one with a traditional style wallowing bath. The bedroom has two private balconies, one with a double swinging hammock bed.

Returning to the ground floor level, to one side there is a spacious guest room with twin beds and, again, a private veranda; to the other side a TV/library room - with a large chandelier hall in the middle giving onto the pool veranda. Symmetry prevails throughout.

A private boat and captain allow you to explore the area’s marine life with ease. A private chef and masseuse are also available to complete the holiday experience.

Kusini House Kizingoni Beach Lamu can sleep eight guests in three double rooms and one twin bedroom. On the first floor, you will find the breath-taking master bedroom wing with its massive four-poster wooden Lamu bed, two en-suite bathrooms and two private balconies.

Each room successfully combines simplicity, luxury and style and all the bedrooms have stunning views of the Indian Ocean.

Kusini House Child-care

Children of all ages are most welcome at Kusini House. However, there are no specific child care facilities but babysitting can easily be arranged.

It is possible to tailor food requirements to children's tastes and arrange for earlier meal times if required. Lamu and the coast of Kenya is a wonderful place for a family holiday with calm safe waters, endless activities and plenty of cultural interaction.

Kusini House Facilities

Kusini House has a spectacular, large pool looking out over the beach to the sea. In the house there is a massage bed so treatments can be arranged to suit the requirements of the guests.

There is a private speed boat with boat captain to use for a variety of activities. There are several private areas around the house with Swahili swing beds where you can read and relax or enjoy a drink or al fresco dining as well as a roof top bar area to watch the sun go down.

Kusini House Activities

A variety of water sports are available at Kusini House, including sailing, water skiing, wake boarding, donuting and windsurfing. Guests can use their private boat and captain for these sports, whenever they choose and there are instructors available to assist beginners.

You can take a leisurely sundowner sail in Kilindini, a luxurious dhow or learn how to sail Mafida, the small fishing dhow. Other activities on the Indian Ocean include deep-sea fishing, snorkeling and kayaking.

Kusini House Services

Kusini House is fully staffed including a chef - able to provide meals and menus of your choice. There is a boat captain for your private boat and instructors available to teach water sports.

A babysitting/child minding service can be arranged. There are guides on hand to take you on excursions to the mainland or to Lamu town.

Kusini House When to travel

The rainy season on the Kenyan Coast is generally May/June. So from July onward the weather is gradually getting hotter and dryer until March/April when it reaches the high 90's (over40 degrees C).

Christmas/New Year is generally considered the peak season and the weather is lovely then with constant sunshine and gentle off shore breezes. If you want clear seas for diving then make your trip after August/Sept.
