Governor’s Bush Camp; Governor’s Bush Camp facilities are all under canvas and is located in the sacred Masai Mara Game Reserve within a private concession area about 322 kilometers from Nairobi (driving time is approximately 6 Hours). Governor's Bush Camp is aimed to create a different sort of camp, catering more for those that don't want the run-of-the-mill Mara experience. Governor's Bush Camp focuses primarily on walking and night-drives which are not offered within the Mara Reserve itself, and so the experience is altogether different from the other Governor's Camps.

 

Governor’s Bush Camp in-house professional guide, Patrick Reynolds, who has many years of walking safari experience in the African Bush, leads the Governor’s Bush Camp walks. He is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable guides and specializes in walking Safaris which requires a great deal of skill and knowledge about animal behavior. Clients are secure in the hands of one of Africa’s most experienced walking safari guides. Bernard or Jackson are delightful Masai Scouts, whose rich cultural background has enabled them to live alongside the game in harmony for centuries, accompany the walks. Their intimate knowledge on the flora and fauna of the area, the medicinal properties of the plants and their knowledge of Masai culture and customs enhance the walking safari experience. For those that are interested in knowing a bit more and seeing wildlife in different way, this is a great choice.

 

Governors’ Bush Camp has 4 double tents (maximum 8 beds) with en-suite bathrooms and here you can experience all the traditions of the safaris of the past. The mobile tents at Governors’ bush camp are spacious and comfortable and here you can experience all the traditions of the bush: The tents have En-suite bathrooms with his and her safari showers, hot and cold water, basin and flush toilet. Governors’ Bush Camp serves mouthwatering meals - Bush meals: Bush breakfasts, lunches & dinner under the stars, a nightly campfire, freshly made bread, all creature comforts and falling asleep to the sounds of Africa. Laundry is available on daily basis and at no extra cost. Electricity is by Gas & Paraffin lamps in tents and in the camp. Governors’ Bush Camp Activities
Game Walks

Governors’ Bush Camp has walking safaris with qualified guides in the private concession area adjacent to the Masai Mara Game Reserve daily; morning with a champagne bush breakfast and afternoon with sun downers and snacks or all day walking safaris.

 

Game Drives

Governors’ Bush Camp Game drives are available from the camp with experienced driver guides in the Masai Mara Game Reserve (included in price) for those that wish in open Landrovers.


Night Game drives

Governors’ Bush Camp is located outside the Masai Mara Game Reserve hence the camp is able to offer Night Game Drives. A Night Game Drive after dinner is particularly rewarding for the nocturnal animals not seen during the day.

Balloon Safari

Governors’ Bush Camp offers Hot Air Balloon Safaris with professional balloon pilots daily, early morning in the Masai Mara Game Reserve followed by a champagne bush breakfast and game drive back to the camp (Additional cost).


Masai Cultural Village Visits

Governors’ Bush Camp offers visits to a nearby Masai village (manyatta). This is an optional excursion and can be arranged when not on Game Drives or on Game Walks. The Masai Village entrance Fees is to be paid at the Village.

 

Lake Victoria Day Excursion
Day excursions to the Lake Victoria are also on offer from Governors’ Camp Bush Camp. Visit Mfangano Island on a day trip from Governors’ Bush Camp. The day excursion to Lake Victoria is by a charter flight. Bird watching, boat rides, walking and fishing are available from the camp on Lake Victoria. An Excursion with overnights at Lake Victoria Mfangano Island Camp highly recommended (booking prior to the trip advisable) (All at Additional cost)
