Changuu Private Island
lies in the Indian Ocean off the west coast of Zanzibar.
It is almost 4 miles northwest of Zanzibar’s Stone
Town and is a long narrow island with the widest point
250 yards. From the moment of arrival, through the
superb jetty, this Five Star Island resort is a unique
experience in life. Changuu Island can be reach by
a comfortable 20min boat ride from the pier in Stone
Town.
The 15
exclusive deluxe rooms are situated at the northwest
side of the island, set along the sea-line and roofed
with traditional makuti, thus achieving a cool atmosphere
day and night. The spacious interiors are elegantly
decorated and equipped with mosquito nets and en-suite
bathroom with a shower and bathtub. The private outdoor
verandas face out to the sea, maximizing the views
and sounds of the Ocean. In the southwest side of
the island, the former Quarantine Area built has been
converted into 12 elegant standard sea facing rooms
that afford the most fantastic views of Stone Town.
These room offer en-suite bathrooms with showers only.
This accommodation area is provided with its own charming
bar, the Fisherman's Cove. In this untouched natural
Paradise, it is possible also to swim in a natural
lagoon in the western side of the island, where Sea
Turtles can often be seen.

and facilities. The main building of the island, the
so-called Prison Ruins is the main cultural area of
the island with an open-air restaurant, entertainment
area and a bar.

chef prepares a delicious variety of cuisine incorporating

at the incomparable setting of Mathews' restaurant,
that was completely renovated and keeping the spirit
of 19th century. It retained most of its original
objects as well as its unique charm, and it incorporates
now the most delicious Swahili as well as international
recipes.
During
the day, spoil yourself lying at the white sandy beach
overlooking the Stone Town, or get the best of the
sunbath by the swimming pool.
As the sun sets, get ready for the Jailhouse rock,
joining the world famous parties of Prison Island,
enjoying one (or more) of the endless list of delicious
cocktails.

the warm welcome on arrival with fresh coconuts, to
parties (optional, indeed) that never ended up before

The swimming pool is provided with service from the
pool bar. The sportive possibilities of the island
include a floodlight tennis court in the bush. There
