Meru National Park – Samburu – Mt. Kenya Safari Club – Ol Pejeta Sweetwaters Conservancy Nairobi 7 Days/ 6 Nights Kenya Safari

Our 7 days 6 nights safari begins with a scenic drive to Meru National Park. The Park was made famous by the book Born Free, detailing author Joy Adamson’s hand-rearing of orphaned lioness Elsa in the Park. The beautiful Rojewero River bisects the Park, and along its banks bird watchers may be fortunate enough to spot the handsome palm-nut vulture and the very elusive Peter’s fin foot. The wildlife is varied, and numerous. Lion, leopard and cheetah are present, as are elephant and buffalo. There are large numbers of hippo and crocodile in the River. Grevy’s and Burchell’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk add to the diversity.

Our next destination is Samburu Reserve, established in 1985, is an arid, hilly region with riverine forests, doum palms, acacia woodland and scrubland, offering a dramatic and rugged landscape in a rather remote location of Kenya - which is precisely the attraction of this reserve - fewer tourists in a wildlife rich, desert like setting amidst a colorful local tribe. Samburu has a permanent water supply that's like a magnet for the numerous animal species, that include the big Cats, herbivores and reptiles such as crocodiles. Samburu is one of the few parks where leopard spotting's are frequent. Samburu also offers superb bird-watching with numerous weaver birds, the martial eagle and the blue legged Somali Ostrich.

Our destination today is the cool, crisp Kenyan highlands and the historic Mount Kenya Safari Club, set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens. This exclusive resort offers an experience of refined elegance and luxury, as well as a sense of old Hollywood in its glamorous past. All of the amenities you would expect from a fine international establishment are here, including horseback riding, golf, croquet, a putting green, a bowling green, table tennis, swimming, a beauty salon, an animal orphanage, tennis, trout streams and more. Fine dining, warm hospitality and superb accommodations of suites or cottages are hallmarks of our stay.

This morning we proceed to Sweetwaters Game reserve. Both Sweetwaters land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi. We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact saltlick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight. Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya.
