Tanzania Family Safari Holiday 7 Days / 6 Nights Safari take you to discover Tanzania. Tanzania is the Africa we see in our minds, long before we visit … landscapes of open rolling plains, flat topped Acacia trees, rocky kopjes on the horizon and the silhouette of a passing giraffe as the sun sinks in a seemingly huge sky. This exciting safari takes you through some of the most dramatic and picturesque areas of Tanzania and Serena Lodges provide a luxury African safari experience at an affordable.

You begin with a day's game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park, famed for its tree-climbing lions, colorful bird life and giant herds of buffalo and elephant. Then travel on to the majestic Ngorongoro Crater, one of Tanzania's most stunning natural landmarks. From here we visit Olduvai Gorge, with its ages of fossils and continue on to the legendary Serengeti National Park.

Day 1
Arusha – Lake Manyara
Today we drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. Lake Manyara National Park is a fitting close to such a dramatic journey. Small, beautiful and richly diverse, its manageable size makes it possible to see virtually every highlight in a day, from its pods of hippos wallowing in the lake alongside the pink fluttering of a million flamingoes, to its rich wildlife and perhaps some of the park’s famous tree–lounging lions. The game in this petite park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see tree–climbing lions, which we may declare our day’s quest, being so thoroughly sated with the big herds of preceding parks. Manyara’s great shock of pink flamingoes will also delight.

Day 2
Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater

We spend the morning in the Park admiring unspoilt Africa, after lunch at Lake Manyara, depart by road and continue on to the Crater rim for two nights at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Along the way we drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—a region created to accommodate the grazing needs of the Masai people and a unique test of the idea that humans leading a pastoral lifestyle can coexist with wildlife. We arrive at Ngorongoro in time for lunch at our stunning lodge, situated on the rim of the crater .Unofficially the “eighth wonder of the natural world,” this ancient amphitheatre forms a unique haven for wildlife with over 20,000 animals thriving in its near perfect conditions. We stay at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion hugging the crater’s rim with vast vistas over its shimmering reaches.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater
This morning we descend 2,000 feet into the giant caldera of this extinct volcano. This magnificent natural amphitheatre contains the largest concentration of animals in all of Africa. Prides of lion, black rhino and elephant share this land with the legendary Maasai tribesmen. Because the grasses are short, game is easily spotted and can be approached quite closely. We spend a splendid morning on the floor of the crater observing wildlife in this ageless World Heritage Site.

Days 4 & 5
Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park is our destination today. En route we stop at Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of mankind,” where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil of Homo habilis, who lived 1.75 million years ago. Arriving at our lodge in time for lunch, we find ourselves deep in the heart of this famous migration corridor. With its wide-open spaces, bright blue skies and creature-filled landscape, over the next two days we will discover why the fabled Serengeti typifies the dream of “Old Africa.” Large prides of lions laze in the long grasses; plentiful families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains, while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe-inspiring numbers.

Day 6

Serengeti – Arusha – Departure

After breakfast this morning, we transfer to Seronera Airstrip for a flight back to Arusha, then transfer to your hotel resident. Later this evening we proceed to the airport, already fondly recalling the trip of a lifetime.
