Tsavo East is Kenya’s oldest national park. It is home to the largest Elephant herds in the country, as well as a large pride of Lions. The region was made famous due to the Maneaters of Tsavo, two Lions that killed around 130 people during the construction of the railway line in 1898.
Today, tourists can see the large pride of lions, which call the Tsavo National Park home. This trip begins and ends in Mombasa – pick up from a hotel or straight from the airport.

The journey begins in Mombasa by road to Tsavo East National Park, located about 160 kilometers away, approximately a 2½-hour drive from Mombasa. Enjoy lunch at the lodge/ camp before setting out on an afternoon game drive. You will be back in the lodge or camp in time for dinner.
On day 2, we explore the park on morning and afternoon game drives. The Park is home to a good population of giraffes, many zebras, Impala, and Gazelles, as well as irascible Buffalo. Predators are represented by a large pride of Lions, elusive Leopards, and the fastest animal on land – the Cheetah.
On day 3 we have breakfast then we drive back to Mombasa arriving by lunch hour and drop off at your hotel.
3 Days 2 Nights Tsavo East National Park Safari from Mombasa Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa North or South Coast Beach Hotel – Drive to Tsavo East National Park (3-hour drive)
0730 Hours: You will be picked up from your hotel. Drive to Tsavo East National Park. Upon arrival at the entrance gate (Bachuma Gate), you will proceed on a safari game drive.
The park is home to a wide variety of species, including “Red elephants of Tsavo” (which are world-famous; their name is due to the red earth they use to cover themselves). Other animals include Lion, Cheetah, Buffalo, Beisa Oryx, Lesser Kudu, Hippo, Zebra, and Giraffe. Tsavo is rich in birdlife.
1230 Hours: Check in at your lodge/ camp in time for lunch. Enjoy lunch followed by some rest time.
1530 Hours: Proceed for an afternoon game drive till late in the evening. Return to the camp to refresh/ enjoy some cocktails at the bar.
1930 Hours: Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/ Camp.

Day 2: Explore Tsavo East National Park (Safari game drives)
0630 Hours: Enjoy an early morning game drive because you may see lots of animals around this time. Some 500 bird species have been recorded in the area, including ostrich and some migratory kestrels, while buzzards stop at Tsavo-East during their long flight south.
0930 Hours: Return to camp for breakfast. You will relax at the lodge or opt for a mid-morning safari game drive with a visit to the Lugard Falls – a series of shortfalls and steep rapids on the Galana River, Yatta Plateau, and Mudanda Rock.
1230 Hours: Return to your lodge/ camp for lunch. Enjoy lunch followed by some rest time.
1530 Hours: Proceed for an afternoon game drive till late in the evening. Return to the camp to refresh/ enjoy some cocktails at the bar.
