About Amboseli National Park
Amboseli is famous for close encounters with big herds of elephants. This Kenyan national park is a photographer’s paradise, combining close-up wildlife sightings with scenic landscapes and the towering Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain.
The vegetation of Amboseli varies seasonally, with green swamps during rainy periods and arid bush during dry periods, both well-suited to game viewing. Wildlife sightings include big cats and the Big Five.

Combining Kenya’s Tsavo West National Park with Amboseli National Park means a wide diversity of wildlife and scenery, as well as different cultures and experiences to look forward to. And with two different lodges on a 3-day itinerary, this tour is ideal for those looking to make the most of their time in Kenya.
The tour begins in Mombasa, and you drive to Tsavo West National Park, home to the largest population of red elephants, as well as other members of the “Big 5” (buffalo, African lions, leopards, and rhinos).
The area has a wide variety of wildlife, including cheetah, buffalo, hippo, oryx, eland, zebra, giraffe, spotted hyena, kongoni, waterbuck, impala, duiker, and klipspringer. There are morning and afternoon game drives to look forward to, as well as birdwatching, excursions to Mzima Springs or the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, and cultural experiences.
Other attractions in Tsavo West National Park include Mzima Springs, Shaitani lava flow, Lake Jipe, Chyulu hills, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Chaimu Crater, and over 600 species of birds. After one night in Tsavo West, the tour continues to Amboseli National Park, home to large herds of elephants whose population is among the few in Africa that have been spared by poachers.
Predators in the park include hyenas, jackals, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Birdlife flourishes, particularly in the marshes and swamps. Over 420 species have been recorded in the park as a whole, including 6 species of vulture, 12 species of heron, and 10 species of eagle.
