Mombasa Day Tours - Kisite Marine Park Snorkeling Trip
Mombasa Day Tours Kisite Marine Park Snorkeling Trip: Enjoy Kenya’s most popular snorkeling and diving boat safari to the famous Kisite Marine Park, just 55km from Diani Beach.
This personalized and professional sea safari includes snorkeling and diving at the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park, graced by dolphins, with a delicious Swahili seafood lunch (or vegan).
African Spice Safaris has sailing dhows and can therefore ensure small numbers on each for added safety and individual service. This is a full-day trip to the Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park, located off the Kenyan Coast about 80 km south of Mombasa, close to the Tanzania border.
Early Morning (0600 Hours – 0830 Hours): The day starts at the Resort with a pickup and generally ends around 6 pm. We sail from Shimoni pier to Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park in a Dhow – a traditional wooden Arab sailing boat.
Mid-Morning (900 Hours – 1230 Hours): On our journey, we search for one of the many pods of resident dolphins to enjoy their company in their natural habitat. You will enjoy a personalized and professional snorkeling experience graced by the presence of dolphins, sea turtles, octopus, lobster, grouper fish, trumpet fish, Muraena fish, stingrays, star fish, and many more.
Please don’t forget that the Kisite Marine Park isn’t a Zoo, so the guides can’t guarantee all the fish, but they can guarantee a most personal experience. Then we head to the coral reefs of the Marine National Park, where we can swim or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean (assistance for non-swimmers provided) and relax on the boat or a sandbank at low tide.
Lunch (1300 Hours– 230 Hours): Afterward, we continue our journey to Wasini Island, where we will enjoy a delicious Swahili seafood lunch (or chicken/ vegan dish).
Afternoon (1430 Hours – 1600 Hours): In the afternoon, a guided visit to the island’s main village with an optional visit to Wasini’s community conservation project “Coral Garden” and its boardwalk through the mangrove forest, will close your day on Wasini Island.
Return (14:00 PM – `1800 Hours): Sail back to the mainland and transfer by road to your hotel in Mombasa.

Mombasa Day Tours Kisite Marine Park Snorkeling Trip Itinerary
0630 Hours: Your day will begin with a pick-up from your hotel and depart for a countryside drive through a beautiful coconut plantation to the “Shimoni” jetty on the South Coast. Kisite Marine Park is the largest marine park in Kenya.
Visiting the park is a great way to spend a day snorkeling on Kenya’s South Coast. Once at Shimoni, our dhow crew will wait for you. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are offered on the dhow whilst you are being fully briefed.
0830 Hours: After, you will enjoy a leisurely Cruise on a spacious wooden dhow to Kisite Marine Park. The park is the best in Kenya for snorkeling and diving. Snorkeling at Kisite Marine Park offers some of the best underwater views in Africa, including corals, tropical fish, and turtles.
We offer snorkeling for both swimmers and non-swimmers, with life jackets and rings. Enjoy and spend some time spotting and watching dolphins. If you are lucky enough, they may join you for a swim in the marine park.
Dolphin Sightings regularly: Some guests have even been lucky enough to swim with dolphins. We are careful to follow the “Code of Conduct” to ensure the dolphins are not chased, harassed, or put under stress. Snorkelers have also been lucky enough to see whales and whale sharks.
Maximum Snorkeling Time: We are the only company that snorkels at two sites, showcasing the reef’s diversity. We offer a minimum of 1 hour and 45 minutes of in-water snorkeling time. We are usually the first to arrive and the last to leave.
1400 Hours: After Snorkeling, we head back to the private garden of Selina and Harm on Wasini Island for a late lunch. Alternatively, we have lunch at the Wasini Island restaurant with magical views of the ocean – a perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view.
Lunch is fresh Seafood (optional menu), including wine, beer, and soft drinks. After lunch, you have time to relax over tea, coffee, and pastries in our ‘Day Dreamer’s Lounge’. Far from the maddening crowd!
1500 Hours: You can do some bird watching, look up anything you have seen in our comprehensive marine library, or visit the Shimoni slave cave.
1600 Hours: Sail back to Shimoni jetty (weather permitting) and transfer you back to the hotel.
