Matira Bush Camp Masai Mara

Matira Bush Camp Masai Mara is a tented safari accommodation located in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve at the junction of the Mara River and the Talek River.

Nestled in the middle of the African bush wilderness under shady trees on a small riverbank, a few minutes drive to the wildebeest river crossing, where the Talek River meets the famous Mara River.

The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes. Ol kiombo airstrip is 9 km away and it’s the closest airstrip from the camp.

The camp is set on dense forest vegetation over the savannah and down to the winding coils of the hippo-filled Mara River and Talek river basin. It stands Center-stage to one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife arenas, with a very captivating nightlife where lions roar candles until you are overtaken by deep sleep.

Matira Bush camp has 10 spacious double or twin bedrooms tents all with en suite bathrooms, hot water showers, sink units, and a flushing toilet. All the tents have private verandas leaving no wish for relaxation unfulfilled. The tents are ideally suited for families.

Matira Bushcamp is styled to echo the tented rooms that offer the best experience of the African safari. It blends with international sophistication and raw African beauty while featuring twin rows of individual rooms, each with its own view of the salt lick.

After an exciting game drive, shady areas will beckon you to linger and share experiences. When darkness falls, you will listen to the stories of the Maasai and the voices of the African night by the campfire.

Matira Bush Camp Masai Mara activities include; game drives, sundowners, breakfast by the hippo pools, hot air balloon safaris, bird watching, walking safaris, and Masai village visits.
