 7-hour Malindi Marine Park & Sardegna 2 Island Tour Itinerary 

0800 Hours – 0900 Hours: Hotel Pickup & Departure -Pick up from hotels in Malindi or Watamu. Transfer to the boat launching point to board a glass-bottomed boat.

0930 Hours – 1200 Hours: Marine Park Exploration & Snorkeling – Sail to the Malindi Marine National Park & Reserve. View colorful corals and fish through the glass bottom. Snorkel among reefs, turtles, and diverse marine life (equipment provided).

1200 Hours – 1430 Hours: Sardegna 2 Island Experience. Sail 7 km to the “Sardegna 2” sandbank, a white sand island appearing during low tide.
Relax on the white sand and swim in shallow turquoise waters. Enjoy a freshly prepared seafood BBQ lunch (lobster, prawns, fish, rice, and fruit) served on the boat or at the beach.

1500 Hours – 1600 Hours: Return Trip. Relax during the scenic boat ride back to the shore. Transfer back to your hotel.

Itinerary Description

At 0700 hours, we depart from your hotel and head to the Malindi Marine Park. Once there, we will board a glass boat to Sardegna 2 Island. Magic cannot begin to describe the beauty of Sardegna. Its serene calm, amazing white sand, and crystal-clear waters make it one of the most remarkable places to visit on the North coast.

The captain/guide begins by sailing you to Malindi Marine Park, where you will see and learn more about the coral reef and its marine species, and how it provides critical nesting sites for sea turtles, including loggerhead, green, olive ridley, and hawksbill.

The two most popular activities in the park are both diving and snorkeling. The clarity and quality of the water, along with the abundance of marine life, make the Malindi-Watamu Marine Parks one of the top underwater destinations in East Africa for scuba divers.

Here, you will have the opportunity to jump into the ocean, where your guide will provide snorkeling equipment. Enjoy the beautiful coral gardens underwater and swim with large schools of fish.

Once you dock, you may disembark and immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters and white, clean sand. The captain and his crew will start grilling fresh seafood right there on the island, including prawns, lobster, and barracuda, and serve it with rice and curry.

At about 1300 Hours, lunch will be served on the boat. After Lunch, you can choose to swim in the shallow, calm waters before the tides come back and swallow the island. If the tide is high, the captain will then have another option of docking on the beautiful shore or the serene Safina beach bar and grill, and you can relax on the sun beds while enjoying the sea breeze and the gorgeous view of the island from a distance. There is a beach bar, so you can quench your thirst with a glass of juice or a bottle of beer (at your own cost).

After relaxing and basking on the white sandy beach, at around 1600 Hours, we will start heading back to Malindi Marine Park, where your driver/guide will be waiting for you. Board the vehicle and drive back to your hotel or your preferred drop-off point for dinner.

NOTE: The itinerary of this trip depends on sea tides, if the tides are low the itinerary will go as described above, but if it’s high tide you will first go to the island and then finish with a Marine park tour and snorkeling.
