Lamu Island 1-Day Tour Deep Sea Fishing Trip offers you a choice of two options; a half day (6 hours) fishing or a full day (10 hours) out on the Indian Ocean. Departure is at 0630 hours and soft drinks, lunch boxes, and mineral water are provided as well as all first-class fishing gear & bait required for a successful fishing trip. We recommend you have sun lotion, a camera good sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect from the sun.

  Fishing Seasons in Kenya include the “Kusi” or South-East Monsoon and “Kaskazi” or North-East Monsoon. The “Kusi” begins anytime from the end of March and may continue until the end of October. The “Kaskazi” starts November-December and lasts until late March. Our deep seas fishing trips are done on a proper deep sea motor fishing boat, particularly well equipped. One of the deep-sea vessels that we use is a stunning 33-foot fishing boat dubbed the MV Cheza, which carries six guests and is the perfect option for a deep-sea excursion. The biggest fish to be caught on the MV Cheza was a 500kg marlin that put up a day-long fight. 

Deep sea fishing in the Lamu archipelago waters is famous worldwide both for its variety and for the quantity of sport fish caught, including Marlin (striped, black, and blue), Sailfish, Tuna, Dorado, Bonito, Wahoo, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, dorado, yellowfin tuna, and Kingfish. The best fishing season is from October through to April and is a wonderful way to spend either a half or full day out on the Indian Ocean. Deep-sea fishing requires advance notice.

You can choose between expansive Deep Ocean or creek fishing, and the massive fish that you will have a chance to reel in are sailfish, barracuda, giant trevally, tuna, sailfish, kingfish, and marlin, including black, striped, and blue.

Plan your travel to Lamu Island (best time to visit) according to the fish that interests you most and the weather too, as population and migration levels fluctuate during the year. The best time to catch broadbill is August through May, and November through March is when billfish are found in the waters.

Sailfish arrive in October and stay until April, overlapping with the marlin in February and March. No matter when you plan your angler’s visit to Lamu Island, though, there is always an abundance of many other stirring and challenging fish to catch.
