Kampala 1-Day Tour Lake Victoria Fishing Trip; With Lake Victoria offering the opportunity for hooking one of the world’s largest freshwater fish, the Nile Perch, anyone with some free time and interest can enjoy this day out.

During your fishing day trip, you will catch Nile Perch. From approximately 8 kilograms to 80 kilograms in weight.  Trolling with lures is the primary fishing method. Speedboats of between 18 and 30 feet, powered by twin outboard engines, are used.

The boats have a large seating capacity but can accommodate a maximum of 4 people fishing at any one time (to avoid line tangling, etc.). Fiberglass 24-foot-long “canoes” powered by an outboard engine are also available for smaller groups of 2-3 fishermen and are usually best for day trips.

Our boats are equipped with an overhead sun canopy, rain suits (there may be some spray when the lake is rough), mobile phones, life jackets, basic first-aid kits, and fire extinguishers for your safety. We also have a cooler on board for cold drinks. All equipment and lures for trolling perch are supplied, but anglers may bring their own.

0730 Hours: After breakfast at your hotel/residence, we will transfer you to Entebbe for your full-day fishing trip. If you are in Entebbe, we can also arrange a transfer. Entebbe is located around 40 kilometers from Kampala City Centre.

0900 Hours: Arrive in Entebbe at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), Lugard Avenue, where we park our vehicle and take a short walk to the pier from which we depart/ return. Kampala 1 Day Tour, Lake Victoria Fishing Trip, lasts approximately 8 hours on the water.  Fishing is done around local islands, about a 45-minute boat trip from Entebbe.

The areas fished will depend upon the weather and how the fish are biting.  At certain times of the year, the lake can be very rough with large swells, so we tend to fish from the sheltered bays.  You will have access to a local fishing guide.

1300 Hours: A picnic lunch is provided, including a cooler with beer, mineral water, and soft drinks, as well as tea and coffee.  Anglers may bring additional drinks as required. We suggest you bring as much sun protection as possible – hats, sunglasses, and creams, as it can be quite hot out on the lake (average daytime temperatures are in the mid to late 20 degrees C).

Strops or sandals are a good idea as you may well get wet feet – especially getting on and off the boat!  Insect repellent is a good idea.  A camera, if you’d like to capture “the big fish” on film, and a pair of binoculars, if you are keen on birdlife.

Light daywear, such as T-shirts and shorts, is generally fine, but we recommend a rain jacket in case of inclement weather and a sweater or light jacket for cooler conditions and evenings.

1700 Hours: Return to the Pier in Entebbe. Later, transfer you back to your hotel/ residence.
