Crocodile Camp Masai Mara

Crocodile Camp Masai Mara is a budget safari camp located 9 km from Talek Gate, next to Talek River in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.  The camp is situated a few minutes from the hippo pool and approximately a 5-6 hours drive/260 km from Nairobi and an hour’s flight from Nairobi to Ol Kiombo Airstrip. The Crocodile camp consists of over 10 spacious and comfortable tents raised on a wooden deck overlooking the Talek River and Mara plains. Activities at Mara Crocodile Camp include game drives, Hot air ballooning safaris,  nature walks in the local villages of Masai, Nature walks, Night safaris, bird watching, etc.

Crocodile Camp Masai Mara is a budget safari camp located 9 km from Talek Gate, next to Talek River in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The camp is 5 km from the Hippo Pool Viewpoint while Intrepids Mara Hippo Point is 13 km away.

The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 5-6 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes. The nearest airport is Keekorok, 21 km from the camp.

Whether you’re camping or looking for a little more comfort in one of their simple safari tents, Crocodile Camp is an excellent place to stay. With wi-fi in the evenings, a decent bar-restaurant, hot showers, and an active safari program geared towards budget and mid-range travelers.

The camp has 9 fixed tents, rent a small tent, or bring your own tent for the campsite. The permanent tents have mosquito nets, clothes racks, en-suite bathrooms with showers, and private balconies. There are also shared bathrooms for the rented small tents and guests at the campsite.

The camp has an onsite restaurant and a small bar serving delicious local and international meals. The camp has a chef who prepares meals on request. In the evening, a bonfire is lit and guests can enjoy or get entertained by the African animal noises or enjoy a traditional Masai dance.

Guests at the tented camp can enjoy a continental or buffet breakfast. There is also a fully stocked bar where guests can enjoy a variety of alcoholic drinks and beverages. Languages spoken at the reception include German, Swahili, and English, and guests are invited to request information on the area when needed. A garden and a terrace are featured at the camp. 

Here you can watch directly from a safe distance out of your tent the unique wildlife of East Africa, e.g. various species of antelopes, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and sometimes lions or cheetahs. At the time of the Big Migration from July to September, the last large migrant herds of wildebeest and zebra can be observed directly from the camp.

Crocodile Camp Masai Mara activities include; game drives, hot air balloon safaris, guided nature walks, and cultural walks, sundowners with a campfire, cultural dances, and visits to the Masai communities.
