Amboseli & Tsavo West Safaris

3 Days 2 Nights Amboseli & Tsavo West Safari begins and ends in Nairobi, or on Mombasa Island. Your safari explores two of the best National Parks in Kenya – Amboseli National Park and Tsavo West National Park.

Both parks combined are home to all of Africa’s Big Five game – Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino, and Buffalo – as well as other wildlife and bird species. Amboseli National Park is the second most popular animal park after the Masai Mara and is located on the border with the neighboring country of Tanzania.

Its magnificent location at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, combined with excellent opportunities to view Kenya’s wildlife, makes it one of the most visited safari parks in Kenya.

Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of free-ranging African elephants. There are over 900 African elephants in Amboseli, as well as huge herds of wildebeests and many other animals, including giraffes, monkeys, zebras, and antelopes.

Predators in the park include hyenas, jackals, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Birdlife flourishes, particularly in the marshes and swamps. Over 420 species have been recorded in the park as a whole, including 6 species of vulture, 12 species of heron, and 10 species of eagle.

Tsavo West National Park is situated 140 Kilometers from Amboseli National Park. It encompasses mountains and hills for climbing, savanna bush and semi-arid desert scrub, acacia woodland, palm thickets, rivers, and the tranquil Lake Jipe.

The region is home to an incredibly important water source – the Mzima Springs. The springs produce approximately 50 million gallons of water a day – 30 million of which are piped to Mombasa.

There are many tourist attractions in Tsavo West National Park, from safari tours to see red elephants to bird watching and hill hiking to caving and boating. Wildlife in Tsavo West National Park includes a few rhinos that are protected in an enclosed sanctuary at the foot of the Ngulia Hills.

Other wildlife includes elephants, hippos, cheetahs, buffalo, oryx, eland, zebras, leopards, spotted hyenas, kongonis, waterbucks, impalas, duikers, and klipspringers. The lions of Tsavo may once have been infamous, but when the rains have fallen and the grass is long, they are very difficult to spot.
