Tarangire National Park 2 Days 1 Night Tanzania Safari

Tarangire National Park 2 Days 1 Night Tanzania Safari: located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is location 118 km (75 miles) southwest of Arusha.

Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and quiet authentic safari atmosphere.

Tarangire National Park comprises of mostly dry, open woodlands, which include thorny acacia thickets and lots of its signature baobab trees.

There are also some beautiful stands of acacia tortillis trees (the flat-topped acacias which are so reminiscent of the film Out of Africa) and the occasional palm tree.

In the south of the park, amidst these rolling woodlands, is a network of huge, flat swamps. During the dry months the concentration of animals around the Tarangire River is almost as diverse and reliable as in the Ngorongoro Crater.

Elephants are the main attraction with up to 3,000 in the park during the peak season months.

Peak season also sees good numbers of wildebeest and zebra as well as giraffe, buffalo, Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, eland, leopard and cheetah.

The real prizes in the park are dwarf mongoose, Oryx and Generuk but viewings are very rare. With a range of environments and good game, Tarangire bird life is also varied – and over 500 species have been recorded here.

These  include ashy starlings and large flocks of beautiful yellow-collared lovebirds, both of which are endemic to Tanzania.
