Taita
Hills Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 280,000 acres
(1,100 km2), and is adjacent to Tsavo West National
Park and the LUMO Community Wildlife Sanctuary.
It
hosts Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Masai lion, Masai
Giraffe, Zebra, Hartebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Thomson's
gazelle, lesser kudu, dik-dik, and other smaller animals,
including a great diversity of bird life.
Taita
Hills Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1972 by
Hilton International. The sanctuary has two lodges,
the Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge and the Sarova Taita
Hills Game Lodge, both operated by Sarova Hotels.

Day
1: Mombasa
– Drive to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary
In the morning you will be picked from your Beach Hotel
and depart by road to Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. Have
lunch on arrival at Taita Hills Lodge. After lunch,
game drive in the sanctuary until sunset.
During
our afternoon game drive you may see lions, cheetah,
baboons, giraffes, elephants etc. Dinner and overnight
at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge. Salt Lick Lodge is especially
memorable for its imaginative structure.
A complex of rondavels sits on stilts over a series
of water holes. The two-store towers, topped by peaked
thatch roofs, are connected by open-air-bridges, creating
an African fantasy of a medieval fortress.
The
lodge has been built with game viewing in mind - you
can see animals in all directions because it offers
spectacular open views.

Drive to Mombasa
Enjoy an early morning game drive before returning to
our lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, continue with
the mid-morning game drive in the sanctuary and later
have lunch at Sarova Taita Hills lodge.
After
lunch depart back to Mombasa overland arriving in the
early evening. Transfer and drop off at your Beach Hotel.
