Paradise Lost Resort Overview

Paradise Lost Resort is a very popular venue (particularly for Kenyans at weekends) and it's easy to see why.. This large parkland has lots to offer including huge ancient caves you can enter hidden behind a waterfalls, a boating lake, ostrich's you can feed, pony and camel rides. It's also possible to camp here although safety may be a concern.

Being just a short drive from Nairobi, it's a great place to visit for a day trip and the caves really are spectacular and well worth visiting no matter what your age. The history of the caves is interesting as the Mau Mau used to live in them during their resistance to British rule. To enter them, you need to enter by a tunnel just about big enough to walk through for several metres.

Soon you come to a large cavern which is lit by electric lighting and from there you can see the network of tunnels and smaller caves linking to the main cavern. We advise taking a torch as the lighting is not 100% reliable and it's pitch dark inside the caves without artificial light.

It's quite an amazing experience to think of the Mau Mau living there all those years in those dark damp conditions hiding from their enemy.

Cave Man Tour - Waterfalls, Stone Age Caves, Nature Trails

Paradise Lost Resort is a great place for nature lover with tree appetites this is the place to be. You will see different species of indigenous and exotic trees which grow together giving a cool atmosphere; you will forget that you are in Nairobi. A local guide naturalist will guide you on the nature trail.

Coffee Farm Tour – 2 Hours

A coffee farm tour is also available if you have time. Coffee Farm Tour – 2 hours visit to the farm that includes the nursery, milling and roasting process in the factory. Mostly done for Non-residents which is free of charge.

Water sports

Paradise Lost Resort has boat rides and swimming opportunities. Enjoy a guided boat ride along the river for a thrilling experience, forest and nature. Children get swimming lessons. Fishing opportunities are also available.

Explore the Caves

This is a home to 2.5 million years old caves. Here you will study bat and other nocturnal animals and birds. Geology will also be a subject to be discussed at length. Be sure to see bats in plenty if you visit this area. Price is – 200 Kenya Shillings Per Person
