Oldarpoi Mara Camp is a permanent furnished tented camp just outside Masai Mara National Reserve. It is on the edge of one of the world’s greatest wildlife safari parks, yet is largely unknown by most travelers to this part of Africa.

Oldarpoi Mara Camp is located within a 30 kilometers radius of a World-class Dental Clinic in The Heart of Masai land operated by the World Health Dental Organization. Oldarpoi Mara Camp sits on 40-acres and is solely owned and operated by the local Masai community.

Oldarpoi Mara Camp is affiliated to I See Masai Development Initiative (ISMDI). This is an organization whose mission is to empower the Maasai economically advocating for education and by leading a campaign to eradicate such practices as female genital mutilation (FGM)

Oldarpoi Mara Camp is built with all the comforts of home, including hot showers, beds with pillows, sheets, blankets and mosquito nets, and porches with armchairs. A station by a generator that supplies lights and refrigeration for the dining area allows cell phones and digital cameras to be recharged.

In line with its advocated eco-tourism concepts, Oldarpoi Mara Camp has a comprehensive solar system through funding by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Oldarpoi Mara Camp Activities

Balloon Safari (Rate: 470 US Dollars inclusive of champagne breakfast and a game drive).
Balloon flights typically take off at 6.30am. Passengers arrive in time to watch the balloon inflation as the pilots torch the colored fabric to life. The flight is for one hour, each on different path and following the days prevailing winds.

A Balloon flight allows passengers to float over the world's most spectacular game reserve, and offers a magical bird's eye view of the annual wildebeest migration and the other wildlife the Mara is famous for.

On landing, the balloon crew set up a full champagne breakfast on the Mara plains. Each passenger then receives a certificate from their pilot as a special memoir of their flight. A game drive en route to the lodge or camp ends a special morning.

Nature Walks Rate: (30 US Dollars Per Person)
Have a feel of the wilderness as you walk amid the animals with trained Masai tracker/guide/naturalists. The walk will give you an opportunity of appreciating the openness of the wild and learn about the existing flora and fauna.

Masai Cultural Visit (Rate: 30 US Dollars Per Person)
This will include a visit to a traditional Masai village or homestead. Here you will be taught about the Masai culture and way of life. A Masai Moran will explain how the Masai coexist with the natural environment. The visit will not end without a dance from the Moran's and women.

Other activities organized by the camp include:

* Picnic breakfasts, bush lunches and bush dinners
* Organized safaris into the Masai Mara game reserve (game viewing)
* Evening entertainment (traditional dancing and story-telling) by Masai warriors
* Volunteer opportunities for clients who would like to give their services and skills to the community's social and economic projects (mixing volunteerism with travel)
