Naro Moru River Lodge

Naro Moru River Lodge is a log-cabin-style hotel located just south of the equator, along the Nyeri-Nayuki road (1.3 km from Naro Moru town) and about 150 km (93 miles) north-northeast of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. The lodge is situated 16 km south of the Equator. The lodge sits along the banks of the Naro Moru River that flows from the Lewis Glacier on Mount Kenya through Naro Moru town and ends up in the Ewaso Ngiro River. Naro Moru River Lodge is a world-famous base for climbing Mount Kenya and a charming weekend retreat.

The lodge accommodation includes 48 en-suite rooms, 5 self-catering cottages, and 5 country homes. There are also bunkhouses with dorms and a campsite. Naro Moru River Lodge activities include; squash, table tennis, lawn tennis courts, a sauna, a pool table, and an outdoor swimming pool and team-building activities. Outdoor activities include game drives, bird watching, nature trails, horseback riding, mountain climbing, and hiking. Guests can also visit game parks/ reserves/ conservancies close to the lodges such as the Ol Pajeta Conservancy, Aberdare National Park, Lewa Conservancy, and Mt. Kenya National Park.

Naro Moru River Lodge is a rustic 4-star hotel located in Naromoru, along the banks of the Naro Moru River right. The lodge is in close proximity to Naro Moru Police Station and the Equator.

The lodge is only a 2 ½ hours’ drive from Nairobi city, between Nyeri and Nanyuki towns, 26 km from Nanyuki town while Sweetwaters Game Reserve is within 1 hour’s drive. There are 46 guestrooms comprising of 12 standard rooms, 10 superior rooms, 12 deluxe rooms, 5 cottages, 5 country homes, and bunkhouses. 

The standard rooms have wooden floors, warm natural-colored walls, a desk workstation, and en-suite bathrooms. The superior rooms have fireplaces, full bathrooms, and working desks. Deluxe rooms have natural-stone walls, wooden floors, Persian rugs, work desks, fireplaces, private balconies, and en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs/showers.

The cottages have en-suite bathrooms, kitchenettes, a private car park, a lockable veranda, and gardens with picnic tables and benches.  The country homes have open sitting areas, dining rooms, kitchenettes, and en-suite bathrooms. The bunkhouse provides budget accommodation and hosts up to 8 guests.

The bunkhouse offers showers, a common room, a shared kitchen, and bedding. There is a campsite where guests can pitch their tents. Naro Moru River Lodge has 2 onsite restaurants that offer delicious traditional and continental cuisines. Guests can enjoy their meals outdoors. Shared kitchen facilities are also available.

There are also 2 bars that serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. A range of cocktails both international and local are also served. There are 3 conference rooms that have unmatched serenity which makes it the most ideal place for conferencing and seminars for both big and small groups.

The well-equipped conference facilities can accommodate between 10 – 120 guests. Naro Moru River Lodge has squash, table tennis, lawn tennis courts, a sauna, a pool table, and an outdoor swimming pool. The well-manicured grounds also provide a perfect venue for team-building activities.
