Mfangano Island Camp; Mfangano Island Camp is located on the western shoreline of Lake Victoria. Mfangano Island Camp is a 3 Hour Road & Boat Transfer or 10 minutes by charter flight from Kisumu.

There are daily flights from Nairobi to Kisumu (45 minutes). There are also daily charter flights from any Camp in the Masai Mara to Mfangano Island (45 Minutes) followed by a boat transfer to the Camp (approximately 20 minutes).

Mfangano Island Camp has six double-bedded cottages situated right on the lakeshore. Each room has been built in the Luo tribal style, with banana thatch and natural clay, and has been recently redecorated. All rooms have a private verandah overlooking Lake Victoria offering spectacular vistas across the lake with picturesque dhows sailing by.

Mfangano Island Camp rooms are light and airy with four-poster beds and all have en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, basin, flush toilet, hot and cold running water. Tea and coffee is served in the rooms with the morning wake up call. Laundry is daily at no extra cost.

Room service is available on request. From the dining and lounge area, sit and enjoy the life of the lake as it goes by. There is also a "horizon " Swimming Pool made of natural stone located right on the lakeshore.

Mfangano Island Camp has a stunning honeymoon suite if you are looking for something very special. From your bed you have almost a 360 degree view of Lake Victoria. The meals at Mfangano Island Camp are superb.

Fresh salads and the daily catch of Nile Perch are served overlooking the lake with freshly made crusty bread and chilled wine. Birds sing all day on Mfangano Island. The Cormorants dive for fish nearby or spread their wings to dry in the sun and Fish Eagles call from the treetops.

Kakamega Forest National Reserve

Mfangano Island Camp offers Day trip by aircraft to Kakamega Forest – the only tropical rainforest in Kenya which offers excellent primate viewing: Black and White Colobus are plentiful and the De Brazza Monkeys.

Many rare species of primate are common here such as the Blue Monkey the Olive Baboon and the Red Tailed Monkey. 350 species of bird have been recorded including rare snake-eating birds. Butterflies and snakes normally only found in West Africa can also be seen, although visitors need have no concern about meeting them round every corner.

Forest mammals include bush pig, grey duiker, civet, Sunni, clawless otters and some fascinating nocturnal game: Ground Pangolin, porcupines and the occasional leopard.
