Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge is located in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. The Lodge offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama view of the Serengeti Plain lands and the Mbalageti River, where one of the main attractions is the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge is actually a word from the old Maa language. It means wildebeest, but the word is no longer in use; today Mbalageti refers to the seasonal river.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge is situated on the Mwamveni hill and offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Serengeti plains and the Mbalageti River. Entering from the Mwanza-Musoma highway, through the Ndabaka gate (1.5 Hours) or from Naabi gate from the Arusha side (3 Hours); the drive is a unique wilderness experience.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge is located in the Western Corridor of Serengeti National Park near the Mbalageti River and the river has to be crossed. During the rainy season, April May, the Mbalageti River can be flooded and should not be crossed by car and we therefore accommodate a swing bridge.

The vehicle will be parked on the other side and the guests escorted over the walking bridge and picked up by our vehicle.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Welcome Center
Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Welcome Center hosts the reception area and, Tea Garden as well as a Board Room. The lodge serves Tea and Coffee with a home made selection of pastries on complimentary basis. Internet Service is available for guests free of charge.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Board Room can accommodate up to 24 conference delegates. Early departures for Balloon Safaris etc can be accommodated in the Welcome Center for early Tea and snacks. Wake up calls as well as rooms service orders for Chalets are conducted from the Welcome Center.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Main Building
In the Main building your guests will find the Restaurant, Bar, Swimming pool, a Lounge Loft, Gift Shop, Fire area and Tranquility Garden with Plunge Pool and Massage Service. Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge has both an indoor section as well as a lovely setting on the deck.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Standard Rooms
Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge offers 14 standard rooms of which 11 have Double bed rooms and 3 are Twin beds rooms. Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Rooms (Standard Type) are not Tented but in a block building. The rooms are comfortably offering all amenities and are beautifully decorated.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Standard Rooms have en suite bathroom with a shower and its own veranda. The Standard Rooms are located approximately 500 meters from the main building. The lodge offers Doubles and Twins, no Triple Rooms available. The Standard Rooms are more of a “one night stop-over” or a budget option for the travelers.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Rooms have mineral water, flashlight, umbrellas, walking stick, whistle and safe deposit box. No triples are available.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Tented Chalets

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Tented Chalets are 24 in number of which 10 are double bed rooms, 8 are twin rooms and 6 Family / Triple Rooms (1 extra child). The Tented Chalets are situated 12 each on either the Sunrise or Sunset side of the hill. They are semi- tented with a back wall of local rock and wooden floor.

Decorated with a true ‘ bush theme’, the Tented Chalets give guests a real safari living experience. All Chalets have both shower and bathtub, some of our Chalets with the bathtubs on the veranda. The Chalets are located far apart to ensure privacy and exclusivity. Extra treats can be arranged and charged at a supplement.

Also a Coffee/Tea tray being served in chalets (As per the Guest Request). All Chalets have mineral water, bathrobes, slippers, flashlight, umbrellas, walking stick, whistle, binoculars, safe deposit box and an emergency light. The Tented Chalets are luxury in harmony with nature.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge has 2 Exclusive Suites. One suite is located on the Sunrise and one on the Sunset side. The exclusive suites have 2 bedrooms. One with a king size bed and one with a twin bedded solution. The suites are our most luxury accommodation.

Wide screen TV, DVD, Hifi, mini bar and a large open-air bathtub are some of the extra facilities your guests will be pampered with in the suites. There is a lounge area as well as a dining setting.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Room Service
If the Guest is sick, Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge provides room service at no extra cost (room service tray), but if a special request from the couple dinning in the room veranda then the lodge charges 15 US Dollars per person (with the set up)

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge Security
Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge has an armed Ranger from Tanapa stationed at the lodge and is complimented by a group of security team who are on duty 24 Hours. The guests are escorted to and from their rooms by the lodges Masai guards.

Mbalageti Serengeti Facilities for Physically Challenged Guests
Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge washroom facilities in the public areas are accessible for physically challenged guests. One Tented Chalet has been prepared with adjustments. Guests can request for room number 14 for the elderly or physically challenged guests.

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge offers transfers to and from Grumeti airstrip (40 minutes) as well as Game drives in the vicinity of the lodge. The lodge vehicle can accommodate 6 guests at the time and the other vehicle 4 at a time

Mbalageti offers a package specially designed for honeymooners. The guests can enjoy the room with an outdoor bath tub and they will be welcomed in the room with a bottle of red wine and a welcome note.

The next day, they will experience the Serengeti sundowner overlooking the Dutwa Plains. Honeymoon package supplement: 60 US Dollars per room

Mbalageti offers an ultimate experience in walking the Serengeti plains. Explore Serengeti by foot together with a Tanapa Ranger and a guide. Enjoy the wild and bird life in an unforgettable walking safari.

This unique walking safari starts at 8.00 am or 4.00 pm and lasts approximately 2 hours. There is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 guests per walking safari. Mbalageti Walking Safari: 60 US Dollars per person

Mbalageti Serengeti Lodge offers the possibility for groups to host a farewell cocktail party at our very special bon fire area. The bonfire area is overlooking the beautiful plains and guests can enjoy the last evening at Mbalageti with pleasant company, an incredible view and tasty drinks and snacks.

During the farewell cocktail there will be selections of wines, beers and soda’s available. The farewell cocktail can be arranged with a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 24 guests. Farewell cocktail: 15 US Dollars per person Reservations can be made through the reservations office or at the lodge
