Mara Bush Camp is a luxury mobile camp, set in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, only 1 km away from Ol Kiombo airstrip. It boasts 12 tastefully furnished, en-suite river facing tents, discreetly tucked away, offering an intimate atmosphere with friendly staff attending to your clients every need.

All 12 river front tents have been placed far enough apart to guarantee complete tranquility and privacy. All tents are furnished with a comfortable 4 poster bed (double/ twin available on request) mosquito net, en-suite bathrooms and safari style shower, clothes rack & storage chest, writing desk & private veranda.

Additional features are a comfortable Lounge and Bar Tent as well as a private Dining Tent where a selection of freshly prepared meals , mostly buffet style, are served by our in-house chef, who caters for all dietary requests happily.

Mara Bush Camp chef will also ensure that picnic meals are readily available for all those who prefer to stay out in the bush all day long. For photographers, a separate Photo- Lounge to charge camera equipment and laptops has been set up. The little boutique shop compliments the set -up and one can purchase unique souvenirs to take home.

Mara Bush Camp Information

Mara Bush Camp luxury walk-in tents are equipped with large comfortable beds, mosquito nets, clothes rack, carpet and writing desk. The en-suite bathrooms have a flush toilet and hand washbasin. All tents have been placed far from each other to guarantee complete privacy and have a verandah with sun chairs.

There are cowbells fixed outside your tent if you require assistance or in case of an emergency. A watchman will come to your tent immediately.

Mara Bush Camp Showers

Mara Bush Camp is a seasonal, eco-friendly camp with no permanent structures hence it can be brought down without any damage to the environment. ‘Bucket’ showers are offered in the tents.

The water supply comes from a nearby spring/ water station in Talek/ Sekenani village and is treated and completely safe. Please inform your room steward what time you would like to take your shower – the water gets heated up for your comfort, taking approximate. 20 minutes until its ready. The Manager will also ask you the previous evening for your preferred wake up call and shower time.

Mara Bush Camp Toilet

Water is a precious commodity in the Masai Mara and we kindly request you to use the flush toilets sparingly. Every flush uses 12 liters of water which is drawn by hand from the spring / river.

Washbasin: Each tent has a washing basin with cold water. The water may be used to wash hands and face but not for brushing your teeth. Complimentary mineral water is provided in each tent for this as well as shampoo, soaps and other accessories.

All Mara Bush Camp 12 river front tents have been placed far enough apart to guarantee complete tranquility& privacy. The luxury tents are equipped with a comfortable 4 Poster bed (double / twin available on request) with a mosquito net, en-suite flushing toilet and sink unit in the bathroom with running water, hot bucket shower, clothes rack & storage chest, writing desk & veranda furniture, 1 litre of Mineral water daily to brush your teeth, towels & shampoo / conditioner & liquid wash soap.

A fully equipped Mess Tent is situated close by, where all meals are served. Adjoining, is a luxurious and comfortable Lounge Tent, where one can meet up with other clients to exchange safari experiences and highlights of the day or catch up on reading a book from the in-house library.

A Sundowner cocktail will help you unwind in front of a cozy campfire under the African stars with all its sounds of nature.

All meals at the camp are freshly prepared by the camp's head chef, offering buffet lunches and set a’ la carte dinners. Our chef will also ensure that picnic meals are readily available for all those who prefer to stay out in the bush all day long. This is particularly interesting for photographers and keen game viewers.

Early morning coffee / tea can be served on your private tent veranda. The camp is fully solar powered, but a Generator (well tucked away to ensure that there is no noise pollution) is available to provide power in order to charge all cameras & equipment.

Mara Bush Camp is not fenced, therefore Masai ‘Morani’s (warriors) will look out for your safety while you are sleeping. The camp is for the visitor who appreciates simplicity and privacy away from mass tourism and wants to enjoy an authentic ‘safari’ experience rather than a large, crowded lodge with swimming pool & entertainment.

Day Game Drives

If you prefer to hire a vehicle on exclusive use (without sharing with other clients & enjoying great flexibility), kindly inform the Camp Manager the previous day until noon latest (as the vehicle has to be sent from Nairobi) in order to guarantee availability.

There will be additional charge for exclusive use per vehicle per day. (this applies only when you are booked on a flight / ground package)

Night Game Drives

This is NEW at Mara Bush Camp! Have you ever wondered what the night time holds in store ? Discover night active wildlife such as the elusive leopard, the ferocious lion who hunts at night.

You may even get a chance and see the Aardvark, the striped Hyena, the Honey badger, the Spotted Eagle Owl, the white tailed Mongoose, the Genet Cat & much more…

Mara Bush Camp Vehicle with fixed spot lights & an additional spotter will take you out on this adventure, starting at 9.00 pm (21.00 hrs), after dinner. (with a min. of 2 persons per booking – duration: 1,5 - 2 hrs)

Hot Air Balloon Ride

A wonderful way to discover the magic of the Mara from a different perspective…ideally undertaken on the 2nd or 3rd day of your safari. (weather permitting). Pick up from our camp at 5.30 pm by the balloon company’s vehicle & transfer to the launching grounds.

Embark on a 45 min. to 01 hour balloon ride over the Mara plains to enjoy magnificent birds’ eye view of the wild game in this reserve.

The mighty Mara remains Kenya's best loved reserve harboring miles of wide savannah, rolling hills and riverine forest with huge grazing herds, bountiful bird life and Africa's largest population of lions.

After an hour of awe inspiring views, you will land to the welcome of a sumptuous champagne breakfast in the wild. Thereafter, you will be transferred back to Mara Bush Camp, game drive en-route.

NB: Children below 08 years are not permitted. Charges remain the same for children, though sometimes rates can be negotiated, depending on the availability.
