Man Eaters Lodge Tsavo West National Park, is a historical and eco-friendly safari camp that consists of 31 luxury en-suite tents, each with a private balcony overlooking the Tsavo River. It is located just 1km off the main Nairobi-Mombasa highway, making it an ideal stopover en route to Mombasa or a base from which to explore Tsavo West National Park (2km away from the lodge) and Tsavo East National Park (10km away from the lodge).
The lodge is 232 km from Nairobi and a km from Tsavo railway station. It has a central lounge, restaurant, bar, and rock-built swimming pool.
Man Eaters Camp is named after the infamous Man-Eaters of Tsavo, the lions that terrorized railway workers in the late 19th century. Located along the Tsavo River, this eco-friendly camp offers a blend of historical significance and modern conservation efforts, providing guests with a unique, sustainable safari experience.

Riverside Tents: Man Eaters Camp offers luxury tents with stunning views of the Tsavo River. The camp offers a selection of canvas-sided safari tents, usually with thatched roofs, often raised on a timber platform with a private veranda. Usually, the tented camp accommodation features comfortable double or single beds with mosquito netting, electric lighting (generator or solar powered), and luxury en-suite safari bathrooms (flushed WC, hot and cold running water, shower and vanity unit).
Cultural and Historical Tours: Guests can participate in guided tours that explore the history of the Man-Eaters and visit the nearby Tsavo Railway Bridge, offering insight into the park’s conservation and historical significance.

Man Eaters Lodge Tsavo West National Park activities include morning and afternoon game drives through the Tsavo West National Park with trained safari driver-guides, nature walks, picnic lunches and sundowners, bush lunches and dinners, visits to the magic of Mzima Springs, exploring the Shetani caves and lava flows, visiting the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, visiting Lake Jipe, visiting the Roaring Rocks and the nearby Chaimu Crater etc.
Safari wildlife highlights: Larger mammals include lion, leopard, elephant, black rhino, hippo, giraffe, lesser kudu, oryx, Cape buffalo, zebra, yellow baboon, waterbuck, gemsbok, Coke’s hartebeest, gerenuk, and gazelle.
Birds: The prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

The Man Eater’s lounge displays memorabilia from the time of the building of the railway, while the Tsavo River Restaurant serves a wide range of local and international cuisine. Overlooking the river, the Simba Mbili bar promises elephant and hippo viewing.
Meals are traditionally served buffet style and will include a broad selection of Kenyan, international, and local choices. Vegetarian options are always provided, and children’s mealtimes and menus can usually be arranged with prior notice.

Man-Eaters camp is an exclusive lodge comprising 31 fully furnished En- suits tents facing the Tsavo river in Tsavo east/west. The camp has 8 family tents which have 1 double bed and 1 single bed for a child, all the beds are four-poster beds with mosquito nets and even the single can accommodate 1 adult.
There is also a 1-wheel chair-friendly tent, easily accessible to and next to the bar, restaurant, and lounge at the camp. All the tents are well ventilated, and spacious, consisting of a large king-size bed while the family tents have one double king-size bed and an extra single bed.
Each tent overlooks the Tsavo River giving you a chance to enjoy uninterrupted views from your own private accommodation. All tents have locally made furniture that easily blends in well with the great surrounding landscapes.
You can also relax on the tent balcony which faces the river, each one has 2 sunbeds, a side table, and 2 lounge chairs, as you watch the wildlife across the river come to drink water such as elephants, gazel and our resident crocodiles which are always basking on the river banks on the far side.
The lounge is rustically decorated with plush sofas, the Man-Eaters Lounge with its close proximity to the tents and the restaurant and its bird’s eye view of both the pool and river is a wonderful place to relax either while waiting to go off on your game drive or before dinner.
The restaurant is more than a mere dining room as it has stunning views, a romantic ambiance, and delectable food. The Simba Mbili Bar is the perfect place to cool off and wind down after a hot and dusty game drive or have an aperitif before dinner.
In the bar, guests can sip cocktails as they enjoy great views of the thirsty animals coming down for a cool drink and even the lazy hippo curiously staring back.
Guests can enjoy themselves in the rock pool as they take a dip in the pool, unwind, get a tan, and even take magical holiday photos. There is a massage facility for guests who want mind and body rejuvenation.
