Kicheche Bush Camp is located in the Masai Mara within the Olare Orok Conservancy (created from Koiyaki Group Ranch lands) bordering the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Kicheche Bush Camp is a small, classic, intimate, luxury tented camp completely unfenced, accommodating a maximum of twelve guests.

The camp is located in a prime wildlife area and game viewing starts right from the camp itself. The location is also ideal to experience the wildebeest migration. Access is from Ol Kiombo airstrip, 40 minutes game drive away.

Kicheche Bush Camp Accommodation

Kicheche Bush Camp has six spacious, fully insect-proof custom designed tents, equipped with twin or double beds, linen, bedside tables, luggage racks and rugs. Bathrooms are en-suite and are equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and a traditional safari bucket shower with a view.

There are comfortable chairs on each verandah overlooking the plains. One tent can be converted into a triple on request. There is a spacious well furnished lounge and dining tent, although we prefer to each alfresco if weather permits.

Kicheche Bush Camp Cuisine

Kicheche Bush Camp cooks produce a variety of African and international dishes and special dietary requirements can be catered for. Fresh produce is flown in regularly and bread and pastries are baked daily. The small intimate camp lends itself to communal dining with your hosts, although private dining can be arranged.

* Minimum stay: 2 Nights

* Children 3 - 11 years: 50% of adult rate

* Infants under 2.99 : Free of Charge (Kindly note that the camp is not conducive to infants)
* Young adults 12-17 years: 75% of adult rate or 50% if sharing with adults in a Family/ Quad tent

* Family/ Quad Tents: Young adults sharing pay 50%. Bookings of 4+ guests will be guaranteed a sole-use vehicle
* Sole-Use of Vehicle is available at 265 US Dollars per vehicle per day. A single booking of 4-6 guests will be guaranteed sole use at no surcharge. Families with children under 7 will be required to take a sole use vehicle unless there are 4 or more guests in the party
* Fly Camping - from any of our camps in Masai Mara - Single night fly-camping supplement: 95 US Dollars Per Person (Minimum 2 Guests)
* Late Departures: Guests departing in the afternoon will not be charged for an extra lunch however they will be required to vacate their tent by 10am on the day of departure. Showering facilities are available to those departing in the afternoon

* Masai Mara Game Reserve Conservancy Fees: All conservancy fees are included and from the 15th July to 21st October 2014 & 15th December to 2nd January 2015 charges cover one visit to the National Reserve section for every three night stay. Additional visits to the Reserve or outside of the Peak Season are chargeable at the prevailing rate (currently 80 US Dollars Per Person Per Day)

* Please note that Kicheche Bush Camp is in exceptional wildlife areas and there is no need to visit the reserve to view cheetah, lion, leopard, elephant, etc.

Kicheche Bush Camp Game Drives

Kicheche Bush Camp early morning and late afternoon are the most productive hours for game drives and our safari customized 4WD vehicles give everyone a perfect view.

Watching wildlife at close range, but without encroaching on their space, is endlessly fascinating and our guides' instincts and experience provide superb photo opportunities of wild animals.

Kicheche Bush Camp vehicles are superbly designed for photographers, all our fleet is open-sided with open roofs. Cameras can be rested on the roof, with supplied beanbags, or on the armrests lower down, to which we can mount simple platforms for larger lenses.

For complete flexibility it is recommended that you take a vehicle on an exclusive use basis (265 US Dollars per day supplement).

Kicheche Bush Camp Walking

Kicheche Bush Camp walks gives a different perspective through escorted walks on the savannah. The interpretive guides will point out the spoor of a leopard, the nest of a rare bird or signs of recent migration activity that would pass unnoticed by the eyes of strangers.

Kicheche Bush Camp Daily Schedules

Rigid daily schedules are not on Kicheche Bush Camp agenda, there are no hard and fast rules at Kicheche so guests can decide on the duration and frequency of their drives. Picnic breakfasts, lunches and sundowner drinks are popular options to include on game drives.

Kicheche Bush Camp Village Visits

Guests staying at Kicheche Bush Camp can visit one of the local Masai villages to see first hand their way of life. A village guide or your Kicheche guide will give you an interpretive talk during your visit. There is sometimes dancing and traditional souvenirs are on sale. There is a charge of 15 US Dollars per person.

Kicheche Bush Camp School Visits

Kicheche's Community Project supports two local schools - Olkimitare Nursery School & Aitong Primary Academy, during term time it is possible to pay a visit to either school. Any educational gifts or donations that you can contribute are an enormous help to these struggling schools.

Hot Air Ballooning

This is a popular excursion in the Masai Mara. Balloons take off early each morning at sunrise and glide over the plains for approximately an hour before landing. Upon touchdown a champagne breakfast is set up before you. The excursion finishes with a game drive back to camp. Price is 470 US Dollars per person and trips can be booked through your tour operator.
