Boundary Hill Lodge Tarangire is literally perched on the edge of Tarangire National Park, among trees and rock outcrops. The lodge is nestled into the cliffs and huge granite slabs. Built of natural materials, predominantly local stone, wood and burnt brick, Boundary Hill Lodge offers outstanding views over the Silale and Gosuwa swamps, where elephant and buffalo graze among the acacia and baobab trees beneath the vastness of Africa's sky. The location of the lodge allows for activities that are not allowed inside the national park, such as night game drives and bush walks.

Consisting of only eight (16 Beds) very spacious individually designed rooms, Boundary Hill Lodge is designed to offer as much privacy as possible. None of the rooms are overlooked. All of them have private sitting areas, spacious balconies and spectacular views. Built in harmony with the environment, among the rocks and cliffs, of natural materials and colors, with fine furnishings, the rooms offer unparalleled comfort and quietly understated luxury. All have en-suite facilities with separate showers and five are double suites with cast-iron baths.

Boundary Hill Lodge

Boundary Hill Lodge is in a unique area, which is environmentally sensitive; every step has been taken to ensure minimal impact. All roofs are designed to collect rainwater. This is stored in concealed cisterns. The lodge does not take any water from the surrounding habitat. Solar panels and wind turbines provide all power. There is no noisy petrol or diesel generator to detract from or mask the sounds of the African bush.

Boundary Hill Lodge dining and bar areas have been built to make maximum use of existing features and to capitalize on the surrounding views. Natural terraces have been subtly enhanced to provide intimate areas in which to relax and savour the sights and sounds of the savannah below. The smell of freshly baked breads emanating from the outdoor oven, together with fish, meat and vegetables sizzling on the barbecue tempt the senses and provide a gentle contrast and climax to the day's activities. Fine food in stunning surroundings.

Boundary Hill Lodge offers much more than just a place to spend the night after a day game viewing in Tarangire National Park. In addition to the comforts on-site the lodge is located on the main migration route for a large proportion of the Tarangire wildlife. From November to March the surrounding area is teeming with zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant and other game as they leave the park after the first rains to graze around the Gosuwa Swamp and Lemiyon Plains.

Boundary Hill Lodge, Tarangire is fifty percent owned by the Masai of Lokisale village to the east of Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. It is located in its own 164 sq km Lokisale Conservation Area (LCA), set aside by its owners, the Lokisale Masai. The Lokisale Conservation Area is one of four which makes up the Tarangire Conservation Area (TCA), a total of 585 square kilometers, the purpose of which is to provide opportunities for local communities to be involved with management of their own land so that peaceful co-existence with wildlife is maintained. Without the land which the TCA protects, the future of Tarangire National Park and its wildlife species is threatened.

The Tarangire Conservation Area comprises four distinct areas:
