4 Days/ 3 Nights Murchison Falls National Park Safari is an incredible vacation to Uganda’s largest national park, Murchison Falls National Park also referred to as Kabalega National Park located in northwestern Uganda.

The Park combined with the Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and the Karuma Wildlife Reserve, forms the Murchison Falls Conservation Area. In addition, it is named after the Murchison Falls. The Falls are a spectacular site to see as the Nile River drops through a narrow gorge along its path northward. A boat excursion near the falls will surely leave you breathless as the nature all around provides spectacular views from all directions.

Like many other parks in Uganda, its wildlife is still recovering from the heavy poaching that went on in the country years ago. Unfortunately, rhinos in this area have already become extinct. However, a rhino sanctuary in the south of the Park was started and in 30 years time, about 40 to 50 rhinos will be able to be released back into the Park’s borders.

Despite this set back, Murchison still claims to have the Big Five and is sure not to disappoint its many visitors as it is the only park in all of Uganda that does.

Other animals that call this Park home include lions, leopards, giraffes, hippopotamus, elephants, water buffalo, antelope, crocodile, hartebeest, Uganda kob, oribi, amongst others. The rare shoe-bill stork can also be seen flying in and around the Nile River.

The best time to visit is during the hot dry months of January and February.

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Murchison Falls National Park
Breakfast at your hotel then depart by road for Murchison Falls National Park. The scenic drive takes you through the beautiful country side past the famous Luwero Triangle and Masindi Town to Murchison Falls National Park. Stop for lunch in Masindi Town.

The drive takes about 5 hours from Kampala via Masindi offering you great sceneries that are picturesque to reach the park in the afternoon. Once inside the park we enjoy a game-drive en-route to the top of the falls.

We have great chances of seeing Elephants, giraffe, hippopotamus, leopard, warthog, Lion, Giraffe Aardvark, Chimpanzee, pangolin, civet, buffalo, hyena, crocodile, oribi, patas monkey, Uganda Kob and a wide range of Bird life.

Once at the top of the falls we enjoy the sight of the Nile River, compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 7 meters canyon dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar creating “the Murchison Falls”. Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park (Nature Walk at Chobe Paraa Sector)

Arise at dawn with coffee/ tea and snacks then depart for an early morning game drive to catch up with the predators and early risers – like jackals, hyenas, giraffe, lion, antelope, elephant, Uganda kob, baboons, velvet monkeys, Jackson’s hartebeest, herds of buffalo, bushbucks, warthogs, waterbucks, etc.

Return to lodge for a late breakfast and relax before lunch.

In the afternoon you will go for a launch boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to the bottom of Murchison Falls, an opportunity to animals like wallowing buffaloes, schools of hippos, large Nile crocodiles, elephants and plenty of water birds like fish eagles and various storks.

Disembark at the bottom of the falls and hike to its top where the calm Nile perfects its beauty - forcing its mighty self through a narrow 8 meter gorge to fall a distance of about 150 ft in a thunderous roar of white water - absolutely incredible scenery! Day 3: Discover Murchison Falls National Park

This morning starts with a sunrise game drive to the delta searching for lions, leopards, rare shoe bill stocks, while still on the game drive there's also abundance of wildlife like elephants, Giraffes, buffalos, jackson hartebeests , kobs among others.

Return to the Lodge for Lunch, and relax for the afternoon.
