Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley

0700 Hours – Departure: We’ll pick you up early from your hotel or the Nairobi airport. Leaving early is crucial to beat the notorious city traffic and maximize your afternoon in the reserve.
0930 Hours – Great Rift Valley Viewpoint: A short 15-to-20-minute stretch stop. Enjoy panoramic views of the massive rift system, perfect for photos, plus access to local handicraft shops.
1230 Hours – Narok Town: Stop in the cultural hub of the Maasai people for fuel, quick snacks, or a local lunch

Pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi at 0800 Hours and drive to Masai Mara. On our way, we make a brief stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the views of the Great Rift Valley. Continue by road through the lower Great Rift Valley and across the iconic savannah wilderness to the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.

En route, you might notice a Masai Moran (warrior) holding a single stick or a spear, standing on one foot, or herding hundreds of cows and sheep. The Masai Mara is defined by its vast, acacia-dotted plains and lakes, and its spectacular escarpments, where the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was filmed.

But the animals of the Masai Mara are the real stars, providing drama and intrigue against a backdrop of spectacular scenery. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch, followed by some leisure hours for a siesta before you depart for an afternoon game-viewing drive, and return back to the camp before sunset.

Day 2: Discover the Masai Mara on Game Drives

This full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve will be spent in search of the big cats of the Masai Mara and the spectacular wildebeest migration. Keep a sharp lookout; you may witness a dramatic hunt, a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree, or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators.

Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara, you will see an abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impala, hartebeests, and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers.

The reserve has over 95 mammal species and over 400 bird species. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara, and patience usually rewards you with unique sightings. All meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) will be served at the camp.
