3 Days/ 2 Nights Masai Mara Budget Safari from Mombasa departs daily and combines both road and air journey to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. You fly from Mombasa to Nairobi on the early morning flight and proceed by road from the Nairobi Airport to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

The second day of your Masai Mara budget safari is spent exploring the Reserve on two extensive game-drives. The tented camp accommodation at the Masai Mara is in walk in modest tents at a semi permanent camp with basic amenities. The tour is suitable for student groups, young couples and young families.

On the afternoon of day 3, you fly to Mombasa where you shall be met at the Moi International Airport for a transfer back to your Kenya Coast hotel. Arguably the jewel of Kenya's Wildlife Sanctuaries, Masai Mara hosts the annual wildebeest (gnu) and zebra migration of over 2 million animals between Kenya and Tanzania during the months of June-October.

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve (Approximate transit time: 5½ Hours)
3 Days/2 Nights Masai Mara Kenya budget safari by air & road from Mombasa begins with an early pick up transfer from your hotel to the Moi airport Mombasa where you fly to Nairobi city to join with other safari participants and proceed by road to Masai Mara Game Reserve.

0600 Hours: Depart Mombasa on Kenya Airways/Air-Kenya/Safari-link to Nairobi by Air

0700 Hours: Upon arrival in Nairobi we transfer you to the city market which is the departure point

0830 Hours: Approximately Depart Nairobi for Masai Mara Game Reserve. On our way we make a brief stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the views of the Great Rift Valley. Continue by road driving through the lower portion of the Great Rift Valley and across the iconic savannah wilderness to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.

On route, you might notice a Masai Moran (warrior) holding a single stick or a spear, standing on one foot or herding hundreds of cows and sheep. The Masai Mara is characterized by its vast acacia-dotted plains and lakes, and its spectacular escarpments where the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was filmed.

But the animals of the Masai Mara are the real stars of the show, providing drama and intrigue against a backdrop of spectacular scenery. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch, followed by some leisure hours for a siesta before you depart for an afternoon game viewing drive, and return back to the camp before sunset. Dinner and overnight at our budget camp.

Day 2: Discover the Masai Mara

This full day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve will be spent in search of the big cats of the Masai Mara and the spectacular wildebeest migration. Remember to keep a sharp lookout; you may witness a dramatic hunt, a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree, or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators.

The Mara has one of the richest wildlife ensembles, as well as being the backdrop for the spectacular world-famous annual wildebeest migration. The migration is considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world, especially as they cross the Mara River.

The reserve has over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Game viewing is never dull in the Mara and patience is usually rewarded with unique sightings. All meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) will be served at the camp. Dinner and overnight at our budget camp.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi and fly to Mombasa

For your final day in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, an early morning game viewing drive is planned for you, or instead, you might decide you would like to sleep in. Breakfast will be served at the camp, after which you will depart by road to Nairobi.

Upon arrival in Nairobi your driver will take you for lunch at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant. After lunch, you will be transferred to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure flight, with your African Safari memories that will last forever.

Arrive Mombasa Airport. Met and transferred to your hotel. The tour ends in Mombasa late in the afternoon.

Safari Extension to Lake Nakuru

Please note safari is also extendable by a day to Lake Nakuru National Park for 600 US Dollars per person whereby you leave Masai Mara in the late morning for Nakuru with lunch at Mai Mahiu or Naivasha town.

You arrive Nakuru in the early evening for rest and overnight at a budget hotel. The next day you leave the hotel after breakfast for Nakuru National Park where you have a full day game drive leaving at late afternoon for Nairobi.
