The park covers 1100 square kilometers and is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania which borders the sea.

Located in the centre of the historic triangle of Bagamoyo, Pangani and Zanzibar, Saadani National Park covers 1100 km2. Saadani's coast is notable for its stands of mangroves, and inland the coast is fringed by palm-lined beaches.

The natural vegetation of the interior of Saadani is mostly open grassland, dotted with acacia thickets, wit the occasional band of riparian forest lining the major watercourses.

The park's game is at its best, or at least is most easily seen, during the dry seasons - between January and February, and from June to August, and includes buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck, reedbuck, hartebeest, wildebeest, warthog and the very shy and uncommon red duiker.

There are small herds of elephant here, and also lion – although both can be skittish. Leopard, spotted hyena and black-backed jackal also occur. Hippo and crocodile are found in the river, and green turtles breed on the beaches.

Day 1: Zanzibar – Fly to Saadani National Park
Meet and greet at your hotel then transfer to the airport for your flight departing at 0945 Hours from Zanzibar or Dar-es-salaam at 0915 Hours directly to Saadani arrival at 1000 Hours. Upon arrival meet and greet and transfer to Wami River for a boat trip.

The river cruise offers great chance to see many wild animals along the river drinking water not forgetting giant crocodile and many birds spices. Lunch the River or Saadani Village. Later in the afternoon explore the park on a game drive where one might see Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Waterbuck, Lions, Leopards, Hyenas etc.
