Mount Meru Hiking Arusha Tanzania 1 Day Trip is a short and rewarding adventure in Arusha Tanzania, which is designed for guests who have limited time and who are not interested in reaching the summit of the second-highest mountain in Tanzania. The tour begins with collection from Kilimanjaro Airport, Arusha or Moshi, and is followed by a transfer to the Tengeru Cultural Centre 12 km from Arusha town, along the Arusha – Moshi road. Tengeru Cultural Centre is located on the slopes of Mount Meru.

You will soak in the local culture by brushing shoulders with the many local people living up the side of the mountain while viewing amazing greenery and animals that live on the lower slopes of Mt Meru forest. The hike begins by following the tropical trails under the banana canopy while listening to some thrilling legendary stories about the Meru people from your guide as you go past beautiful villages where you will receive a very warm and friendly welcome from the villagers.

While walking up the mountain, you will explore the beauty of the forest’s flora and fauna – rich birdlife, beautiful butterflies, monkeys, forest antelopes, and several medicinal plants – enjoying at the same time spectacular views of the lower areas of Arusha. The hike is bound to make you work up an appetite!  You will stop for lunch in a relaxing environment then continue hiking for another hour to reach the beautiful waterfall at an altitude of 2200 meters; here you can take a dip in the cold, refreshing waterfalls.

Thereafter you can take more pictures for good memory back to you home. After taking a few moments of relaxation in the fall, you will start heading back to the center. The tour ends with a transfer back to Arusha. Mount Meru 1-day hiking tour Arusha duration is approximately 7 hours (4 hours to ascend and 3 hours to descend). You will cover about 18 km round trip. Overall tour duration: 8 hours.

0800 Hours: After breakfast depart from your hotel and drive to Tengeru Cultural Center.  Upon arrival, you will enjoy a refreshing cup of herbal tea, while having a briefing about the day hike by our guide.

0900 Hours: We start hiking.  You will follow the tropical trails under the banana canopy while listening to some thrilling legendary stories about the Meru people from your guide. The majority of the hike is more like walking up a steep hill past numerous villages and people’s farms.

While walking up the mountain, you will explore the beauty of the forest’s flora and fauna – rich bird life, beautiful butterflies, monkeys, forest antelopes, and a number of medicinal plants – enjoying at the same time spectacular views of the lower areas of Arusha.

1200 Hours: Hiking Mount Meru is bound to make you work up an appetite! We stop for lunch in a relaxing environment full of mountainous flowers. Lunch consists of bread, pancakes, juice, and fruits.

1300 Hours: We continue hiking for another hour to reach the magnificent gigantic Meru Fall at an altitude of 2200 meters. You can take a dip in the cold, refreshing water of the waterfalls.

1400 Hours: After taking a few moments of relaxation in the fall, you will start heading back to the center.

1700 Hours: You will get back to Tengeru Cultural Center and then we transfer you back to Arusha to your hotel or residence.
