Lenchada Tourist Camp Masai Mara

Lenchada Tourist Camp is a no-frills budget intimate safari camp located on Oloolaimutia Hills close to the entrance of the Masai Mara National Reserve Masai Mara Ololaimutia gate, which is about 2.5 km from the camp. The Camp can be reached either by road or by air. The distance from Nairobi to Masai Mara is approximately 250 km. It takes around 4-5 hours by road while flying time takes about 45 minutes. Scheduled flights land at Ol Kiombo or Keekrok airstrips. The camp fits nicely into the natural environment of the Oloolaimutia hills and offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Masai Mara.

Lenchada camp has two types of tents – deluxe and standard tents. These tents can be arranged in four different styles – single, double, triple, and family (sleeping a maximum of 4 guests).  The maximum accommodation capacity is 60 guests in 30 permanent safari tents. The tents are basic and clean and are tastefully decorated and fitted with beds, linen, and mosquito nets. The tents have en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets, washbasins, and hot showers. The tents also have their own veranda for sitting back and watching the bush. Electricity is run by generator – morning 0600 hours – 1000 hours and evening 1900 hours – 2200 hours.

Lenchada Tourist Camp facilities include a bonfire in the evening on the lawn which gives a great opportunity for guests to interact and know each other and share safari experiences. There is a bar and lounge area, a shop selling locally-made products, and a spacious dining area that serves different but basic meals both international (vegetarians and non-vegetarians) and Kenyan.

Activities in Lenchada Tourist Camp Masai Mara include morning and afternoon game drives, bird watching, hot air balloon safaris, watching the Great Wildebeest Migration between June and November each year, bush dinners, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts, hiking in the Loita Hills, Horseback safaris, visiting private conservancies, visiting the Mara River and Maasai village visits. Lenchada Tourist Camp is a budget camp that accommodates up to 60 guests in 3 different styles of accommodation (single, double, and triple tents). One can choose to stay in standard tents or deluxe tents. All our tents have en-suite bathrooms equipped with a mosquito net, safari showers, hand washbasins, and flush toilets. 

A hot water shower in the camp is produced environmentally friendly by a photovoltaic plant which ensures that you can relax and enjoy the natural sounds of the environment. A wide variety of dishes is served alongside a comprehensive selection of the continent’s finest wines.

Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are served in the restaurant or bush garden from where one has an incredibly close view of the Mara River and the wild animals coming to drink water. We arrange the most amazing set bush breakfasts and lunches at carefully selected areas, offering guests the most spectacular view of the savannah and as the perfect surprise after an exciting morning game drive.

If one wishes to venture a little further, one can also enjoy a romantic bush dinner set beneath the starlit African night. The game drives will be carried out in specially designed 4×4 game-viewing vehicles driven by an experienced and multilingual safari guide. In addition to game drives, you can choose to start a walking safari directly from the camp.

Guided by a Masai warrior you will explore the flora and fauna and approach giraffes, zebras, and impalas very closely.
