Arusha National Park Birding Safari 1 Day Tour takes you for a full day excursion in Arusha National Park. Located just 45 minutes drive from Arusha and about 60 km’s (35 miles) from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

While Arusha National Park has no large predators, it is home to Africa’s largest giraffe population, a variety of primate species, and a number of large herbivores and over 400 bird’s species recorded.

The Arusha National Park is known for the Ngurdoto Crater, Momela Lakes and the forest ecosystem that contain a wealth of birds and animals.

These include bushbuck, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalo, hippo, reedbuck, waterbuck, giraffe, baboon, bush pig, Sykes monkey, vervet monkey, mongoose and warthog.

The Arusha National Park and particularly the Momella Lakes offer gorgeous bird-watching opportunities. The national park is inhabited by over 400 different migrant and resident bird species.

The most famous bird species in the Arusha National Park are water fowls such as little grebes, eagles, pilchards, geese, hamerkop, red shark, spur winged goose, woodpecker, herons, secretary bird, and grey parrot.

0800 Hours: Pick up from Arusha town/ Moshi (at your hotel/ Residence) and drive to Arusha National Park

0900 Hours: Enter the park and enjoy a full day bird watching and wildlife safari game drive

1300 Hours: Stop for a picnic lunch and a chance to relax and enjoy the views

1400 Hours: Continue with your bird watching and wildlife safari

1630 Hours: Exit the park and return to Arusha/ Moshi (to your hotel/ Residence)

1730 Hours: Arrive at your hotel/ Residence

Arusha National Park Birding Safari 1 Day Tour Activities

After breakfast at your hotel you will drive to Arusha National Park, which is 40-60 minutes from either Arusha or Moshi Town.

Your visit to Arusha National Park is a flexible one, as you’ll have three choices as to how you’d like to experience the park.

Game Drive: You can embark on a half-day or full-day game drive through the park. Your drive will pass you past park landmarks such as the Momella Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater – sometimes known as ‘Little Ngorongoro’.

Canoe Safari: Available at extra cost, you’ll trade the car for a canoe as you take a guided canoe safari out on the Momella Lakes to see bushbuck, giraffes, hippos, and buffalo.

Walking Safari: Stretch your legs with a guided walking safari through the park. While on your walking safari, you can expect to see endless acres of forest, home to black and white colobus monkeys, zebras, buffalos, and a varietyof antelopes.

You will also have a chance to observe more than 400 bird species including the Crowned Eagle, Lanner Falcon, and Levaillants Cuckoo.

You can combine the above three options as you please, although the canoe safari and walking safari both attract an additional cost.
