Arusha Meserani Snake Park Masai Village Day Tour is an exciting trip to Meserani Snake Park for those who are fascinated by snakes!  Meserani Snake Park is located about 25 km/ 13 miles west of Arusha on your way to Serengeti and Ngorongoro National Parks and is home to approximately 48 snakes commonly found in Eastern and Southern Africa.

The snake park provides various activities, take a guided tour and learn about some of the most dangerous snakes in the world, from the Black and Green Mamba to the Egyptian Cobra, Puff Adders, and many more. Capture your special moment and hold a real live snake. Check out the 3m plus crocodiles at feeding time and touch a baby crocodile. You can also enjoy your personal Maasai guide who will take you on a spectacular tour of the Maasai Cultural Museum.

Other reptiles at the park include Monitor Lizards, Tortoises, Crocodiles, and a few species of birds that have been orphaned or injured and would not survive if they were returned to the wild. Meserani Snake Park is a great place to learn about some of Africa’s less notorious, but most efficient predators. Visit the Free Education Centre, where the local Maasai have the opportunity to learn how to read and write and further their education in many different ways. Aside from the snake park, there is a Masai cultural museum where you will learn about the ways and lives of the Masai tribe.

Snake Park Campsite: Whether you are on an overland truck or just stopping by on your way to or from the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater, Meserani’s campsite is an oasis in the heart of Maasai Land Tanzania.

You can just relax at a fully equipped campsite. Hot showers, clean washrooms. Unwind and listen to the beautiful sounds of nature as there are over 60 species of birds that inhabit the park.

Snake Park Bar: The bar has become legendary around the world. Hanging from the roof you will find all sorts of memorabilia, from t-shirts to banknotes. Every piece tells a story. Everybody is welcome at the snake park bar, and if you happen to drop by be sure to try out some of the species of shooters available.

Meserani Snake Park & Masai Village Tour

Upon arrival at the snake park, you will get a guided tour to see and learn about some of the most dangerous snakes in the world which include the Black Mamba, Green Mamba, Egyptian Cobra, and Puff Adders amongst others.

You will be allowed to hold the non-venomous snakes that are adapted to human beings and take pictures while they move on your hands and neck. Next, you will take a personal guided tour of the Masai museum located within the snake park with a Masai warrior. He will walk you through and explain the Masai culture, tradition, and way of life.

After your tour through the cultural museum, your guide will take you to the Masai Crafts Market where you will see traditional Masai huts and also watch the Masai Women making their beautiful colorful jewelry.

Here you will dress up like a Masai Warrior and also have an opportunity to buy Masai curios and jewelry. You will then take a camel ride towards the Monduli Mountains to visit a local Masai Boma (village). You will have lunch at a restaurant before taking a camel ride. 

The camel ride leaves from the gate at Meserani Snake Park and takes approximately 30 minutes to the village. Along the way, you will get a chance to chat with the Masai guide and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You will tour the local village and see how the Masai live. The whole camel trip to the local village and back to the snake park lasts about 2 hours.

If time permits you can check out the 1500 Hours crocodile feeding time. You may touch a baby crocodile.

On our way back to Arusha, we have the possibility of making an optional shopping stop at Oldonyo Rock Curios Shop or Cultural Heritage.
