Kit-Mikayi name is a Luo dialect meaning ‘The Stone of the First Wife’. This Impressive rock formation has lots of historical significance and a visit offers you an opportunity to learn more about the Luo culture and believes.

Day 1: Nairobi – Kit Mikaye – Drive to Kisumu

After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Kisumu town. Today you will visit Kit Mikayi is a large rock with three rocks on top. It stands tall above many surrounding rocks in Kangeso village.

Kit Mikayi is a Mysterious rock formation located in a village about 30 km from Kisumu, 3rd largest city of Kenya after Nairobi and Mombasa. Kit Mikayi means “Stone of the First Wife”.

We hike to the top of the rock formations, enjoy the scenery and learn the cultural significance of the site for the Luo community.  Later drive to your Kisumu hotel for dinner and accommodation.

Day 2: Kisumu – Drive to Ndere Island National Park

After breakfast trek to the lake shore then catch a boat to Ndere Island National park. Located on Lake Victoria, this island is a haven for birds.

Ndere Island provides beautiful scenic views of the Homa hills to the south, Mageta Island to the east and the glimpses of Kampala in Uganda beyond the south west horizon.

The lake shore supports a wide variety of animals including hippos, monitor lizards, Nile crocodiles, several fish species, snakes, baboons, impalas, the rare sitatunga antelopes, water bucks, zebras and warthogs.

Day 3: Kisumu – Drive to Kakamega Forest

Depart for Kakamega after an early breakfast. Spend the day exploring the famous tropical forest looking for colobus monkeys many types of reptiles and birds.
