You also get to visit the historic archaeological site of the Olduvai Gorge on your way to the vast plains of the Serengeti National Park from Arusha.
Serengeti National Park is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing.
Game viewing in the Serengeti is never disappointing. The park has great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.
You will enjoy game drives in our safari 4×4 vehicles, with a pop-up roof for the best wildlife observation. While at the Serengeti you have the option of taking a sunrise balloon safari.
Our next stop is the famous Ngorongoro Crater – the 8th natural wonder of the world and the unique, world-famous caldera teeming with wildlife.
Ngorongoro Crater is home to populations of Lion, Leopard and Hyena along with good herds of wildebeest, buffalo and zebra.
Other game in the Ngorongoro includes serval cat, cheetah, jackal, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelle, flamingo and bat-eared foxes along with approximately 400 species of bird.

Safari Itinerary in Detail
Day 1: Arusha/ Moshi – Drive to the Serengeti National Park
0700 Hours: Leave Arusha/ Moshi town after breakfast and drive to the Serengeti National park. The distance is 325 kilometres and the drive takes around eight hours.
En route, we stop at Olduvai Gorge, the “cradle of mankind,” where the Leakey family uncovered the fossil of Homo habilis, who lived 1.75 million years ago.
1300 Hours: We arrive at the Nabi Gate the entrance to Serengeti National Park where we have our lunch boxes.
1400 Hours: We proceed on a game drive en-route to our accommodations. Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value.
With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa.
The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular – the annual Serengeti migration.
Aside from the wildebeest migration, you will see a huge population of large mammals, including giraffes, baboons, elephants, hippos, and, of course, lions.
You’ll also come across more than 500 species of birds, most notably, ostriches.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park – Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater
0800 Hours: After breakfast, you will proceed for a morning game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
You have good chances of seeing lions and other big cats such as leopards and cheetahs in the Seronera Valley. During the migration season, you will see hundreds of wildebeests and zebras.
1300 Hours: After lunch at a picnic site, you depart the Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater.
The Ngorongoro Crater and surrounding highlands are some of Africa’s most beautiful regions. Volcanic craters form stunning backdrops to some of the richest grazing grounds in Africa.
1800 Hours: Arrive at your accommodations at the crater’s edge and enjoy fantastic views as the sunsets.

Day 3: Full Day in The Ngorongoro Crater – Drive to Arusha/ Moshi
0600 Hours: Today you will head out into the early morning mist and make the 2000-foot descent into the crater.
Explore the distinct areas of forest, lakes and open grassland on a half-day game drive during which you can hope to spot wildlife including the Big Five, cheetah and hyenas.
0900 Hours: Picnic Breakfast at the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater.
Ngorongoro Crater is inhabited by about 30,000 animals, of which half are zebra and wildebeest. The crater also has hyenas, lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, hippo, bull elephants, buffalo, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles.
The salt-whitened shores of Lake Magadi are turned a pastel pink from thousands of flamingoes sifting algae and shrimps from this soda lake.
The lake also attracts a myriad of other water birds including avocets, plovers and black-winged stilts etc
1300 Hours: We enjoy our packed lunch at the floor of the crater and continue with our game drive.
1500 Hours: We drive to ascend to the rim of the crater and drive to Arusha/ Moshi
