3 Day Sweetwaters Olpejeta Game Sanctuary Kenya Safari

Beginning and ending in Nairobi, this short 3-day road safari visits the scenic Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy – a 90 000 acre (360 km²) non-profit wildlife conservancy located in the foothills of the Aberdare Mountain Range and Mount Kenya.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to the last two northern white rhinos in the world. It is also East Africa’s largest black rhino sanctuary and the only place in Kenya to view chimpanzees (Kenya’s only chimpanzee sanctuary). The conservancy is also home to the Big Five of Africa (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, and leopard).

The Conservancy is a 4 hours drive/ 217 kilometres north of Nairobi.  The main gate is 14 kilometres from the equator turn-off, just before Nanyuki town and it lies on the equator.

The Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the Big Five (the endangered black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lion), Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah, and chimpanzee.

There are about 300 elephants, 67 lions, 30 cheetahs, 20 leopards, and 60 spotted hyenas, as well as a pack of African wild dogs. Other animals include hippo, giraffe, baboon, monkey, aardvark, and ostrich as well as antelopes – Grant’s gazelle, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, Beisa oryx, waterbuck, and eland.

As a safe and secure private sanctuary, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy can guarantee a hassle-free safari experience with amazing wildlife viewing on good all-weather roads. Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary 2 Days 1 Night Safari departs from Nairobi and proceeds north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to arrive in time for lunch at your lodge/ camp.

After lunch, we relax before setting out on an afternoon game drive in Conservancy which is East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees and holds some of the highest predator densities in Kenya.

Extra activities such as game walks, night game drives, horseback, Guided Bush Walks, Lion Tracking, Bird Watching, Game Viewing from Blinds, game rides, and meals in the bush, and Camel Rides are available upon request.

Day 2: Full Day in Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Today after breakfast we lock eyes with a chimpanzee, visit three of the world’s last remaining five northern white rhinos and watch a wild pride of lions roaming the African plains.

With the snowy peaks of Mt. Kenya as your backdrop, your safari game drives the largest black rhino sanctuary is sure to be as beautiful as it is diverse.

Find yourself and the Big Five as you explore 90,000 acres of the pure wild with an experienced guide who will share his expert knowledge with you.

Venture out there for close encounters with elephants, wild dogs, lions, hyenas, buffalo, cheetahs, rhinos, and all the plains herbivores.

Day 3: Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Drive to Nairobi

0630 Hours: An early morning game drive in the Conservancy. Sweetwaters/ Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the closest place from Nairobi to see the Big Five – lion, African elephant, African Buffalo, leopard, and the rhinoceros (either the black rhinoceros or the white rhinoceros).

The combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.

0930 Hours: Breakfast at the camp or lodge, then depart by road for Nairobi arriving early evening.
