The Ghost and the darkness by Michael Douglas is a
movie that was documented in Tsavo National Park where
two lions kill and ate close to 40 engineers and their
crews who were constructing the Kenya Uganda railway
line during the turn of the century. The man eaters
of Tsavo have been immortalized a book entitled man
eaters of Tsavo written by Colonel J.J. Patterson.
Day 1 Mombasa to Tsavo National Park
Depart Mombasa by road to the largest game sanctuary
in Kenya called Tsavo National Park which comprises
of Chyulu hills, Tsavo West and Tsavo East parks.
Upon arrival at Patterson tented camp, check-in and
lunch follows. This afternoon explore the park which
has huge population of red elephants which derive
their red colouring from the rich red earth of the

Overnight: Patterson’s Tented Camp
Day 2 Tsavo National Park to Amboseli National
Park
After an early breakfast at the camp, depart for Amboseli
National Park. Amboseli in Masai language means “underground
springs’ and the park has an endless supply
of water which is filtered through volcanic rocks
from Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive in time for lunch at
Sopa Lodge. Afternoon depart for a ‘Spice’
game drive where you are likely to see vast herds
of Elephants, Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Impala and
if lucky Cheetah or Lions.B,L,D.
Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge or Amboseli Lodge
Day 3 Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, depart for a full day game drive
where you are likely to see a large variety of game
with impressive Mount Kilimanjaro as the background.
Stop over for lunch at one of the many lodges available
in the park then proceed on a ‘Spice’
game drive which includes a visit to a Masai village.
The Masai live in traditional manyatta consisting
of mud huts formed into a circle with broken thorn
trees fashioned into a fence to keep out wildlife
and keep in the priced cattle. B, L, D
Overnight: Amboseli Sopa Lodge or Amboseli Lodge
Day 4 Amboseli National Park to Mombasa
After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, depart by road
to Mombasa. You will have a picnic lunch en-route
arriving Mombasa late afternoon to early evening.
