Sabuk Lodge Laikipia

Sabuk Lodge Laikipia is a private unique bush home perched high on a cliff overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River on private land. The lodge is situated on the edge of the Northern Laikipia Plateau, where the Ewaso Nyiro River cascades.

Laikipia Plateau stretches from the foothills of the Aberdare, across vast open plains to the Northern Frontier District and the Mathews Range in Kenya. Wildlife such as the Greater Kudu, lion, elephant, buffalo, and the elusive African Wild dog are inhabitants of Sabuk, and there is fabulous birding to be had too.

Sabuk Lodge (meaning Buffalo) is a 6-hour drive from Nairobi. Flights from Nairobi take an hour to Loisaba airstrip and a 35-minute game drive to Sabuk Lodge. The lodge is a 4-hour drive from Mount Kenya and a 1-hour drive from Nanyuki Airstrip.

Sabuk Lodge Laikipia consists of 6 spacious en-suite open-fronted stone & thatched cottages with private verandahs and stunning views as well as a family unit that has its own exclusive ‘mess area’ and plunge pool.

Some of the cottages have ‘star beds’ as well as the normal bed inside, for when the weather is right there is nothing better than falling asleep under the sparkling African night sky. Each room in the lodge has a balcony that offers stunning views of the area. The rooms are also fitted with beautifully draped beds, showers, and flush toilets.

Sabuk Lodge offers a buffet breakfast service which may be enjoyed outdoors. A variety of local and continental dishes are prepared at the on-site restaurant.

Sabuk is all about the fabulous camel walks and safaris with fly camps together with a rich cultural experience and heartbeat. Majestic nights spent out under starry skies, rolling hills and adventures, moments of anticipation, and excitement shared with your guides and safari team. Sabuk has been running camel safaris in this area for the past 25 years.

Sabuk Lodge Laikipia Activities include guided walks, day and night game drives by 4-wheel drive vehicles, bush breakfasts & picnic lunches on the river banks, hilltop sundowners, cultural visits, line fishing, river swimming, tubing the rapids & rock jumping (seasonal). Verity also has 3 hardy Somali ponies so horse-riding can be arranged as an extra activity.
