Ol Seki Mara Camp; Ol Seki Mara Camp is location in the eastern part at a permanent site on the Koiyaki Group Ranch, north of Mara Game Reserve. Ol Seki is set in the eastern part of the Koiyaki conservation area, an area populated with Masai, but also home to good game, particularly when the Loita Wildebeest migration comes in from the North East.

Between June and July the Aitong plains to the North and West team with migrating wildebeest and Zebra and, of course, numerous predators. For the rest of the year, resident game is ever present, although not in such large numbers as in the Mara National Reserve.

Other camps located in the Koiyaki Group Ranch apart from Ol Seki Mara Camp include Kicheche Mara Camp, Richards Camp and Elephant Pepper Camp and are all within relatively easy reach of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Mara Conservation Area where Ol Seki Mara Camp is located surrounds the main Masai Mara Reserve.

This land is owned by a series of different Masai communities and differs from the main reserve in a couple of important ways. First, the Masai to whom this is home are allowed to use this area to graze their cattle. Second, because it lies outside the main reserve, walking is allowed in this area.

Ol Seki Mara Camp Community Projects

Olesere Primary School has 120 students enrolled with three teachers and one head teacher. It covers pre-unit through Year Three (about 4 to 12 years old).

The school itself is very basic and our foremost goal is to improve the learning conditions as they are very Spartan. Four years ago a free primary education scheme was started in Kenya. Ol Seki is working with the teachers, students and parents to make Olesere a great school.

Koiyaki Guiding School

The neighboring Koiyaki Guiding School has the following goals.

* To enhance conservation of the Masai Mara wildlife by converting this region into an economically viable conservation area.

* To equip local people with the professional skills needed for them to participate in, and promote conservation and wildlife management.
