Ol
Pejeta Bush Camp; Ol
Pejeta Bush Camp is a traditional tented safari camp,
set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in 110,000-acre
Ol Pejeta Conservancy, which lies on the Laikipia
plains 17 km from Nanyuki and 217 km from Nairobi.
Nanyuki Airstrip is a 40 minutes drive from the camp.
Just 3½ hours drive from Nairobi; Ol Pejeta
Bush Camp is as the name suggests a real ‘bush
camp’ where you can expect comfortable but basic
tented accommodation (with the luxury of an en-suite
bathroom), delicious food and great company. Ol
Pejeta Bush Camp has 6 tents with twin beds, accommodating
a total of 12 guests. The camp can be booked exclusively
for a family or group of 4 or more for a small supplement
per night. Further temporary tents can be added for
larger groups if necessary.
Ol
Pejeta Bush Camp gives a unique safari experience,
described by guests as ‘the real Africa’,
offering interactive conservation activities, whereby
guests are given the opportunity to experience modern
wildlife conservation first-hand. Likewise, for those
seeking a nature retreat and wishing to distance themselves
from a busy schedule, rest, relaxation and independence
are all equally encouraged. Ol Pejeta Bush Camp offers
an interesting range of educational and interactive
activities in addition to bush walks and day and night
game drives. Guests can meet with the researchers
based at Ol Pejeta and monitor elephant and track
rhino and lion on foot or you can spend some time
in the hide at the waterhole to see what turns up.
Ol
Pejeta Bush Camp also offers the opportunity for sleep
outs in the bush beside the water hole where all equipment
including night vision monocular is included. Ol Pejeta
is East Africa’s biggest Rhino Sanctuary offering
the chance to see the now very rare and endangered
animals. There is also a Chimpanzee Sanctuary within
the Conservancy, originally started by the renowned
expert Jane Goodall and home to over 50 rescued chimps.
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp also makes a good base for those
wishing to climb Mount Kenya.
Private
Charter flights can easily land into an airstrip in
Olpejeta Wildlife Conservancy called Kamok.
