New Moon House Lamu is located in Shela village on Lamu Island, off the north-eastern coast of Kenya. The house offers luxury accommodation for up to six people in three large bedrooms and is fully equipped for self-catering.

Guests can enjoy the true island feel in the large garden and relax on the rooftop with its magnificent sea views, while the comfortable dining room is the ideal place to enjoy meals prepared in the kitchen.

New Moon House Lamu is strictly self-catering, meaning that apart from a supply of the basic necessities such as sugar, olive oils and spices, we do not provide food. However, the cooks and stewards will do all the shopping, cooking and serving for you, and will show you a guideline menu from which you can select your meals.

To be more care-free when you arrive, you can also select your meals before arrival and we can have the shopping done in advance. New Moon House Lamu will ensure that you are met at the Manda/Lamu airport by one of our staff members who will escort you to the traditional boat and take you to Shela. From here you will also be escorted to the house.

Lamu Island offers a variety of festivals throughout the year and has many activities to keep you busy. Guests can snorkel on the reefs or swim with the dolphins, enjoy a sunset cruise or simply explore the island. All activities can be arranged through the house manager on your request.

New Moon House Lamu in Shela is privately owned and is built in pure Swahili Style and furnished with antiques. The cooks, stewards, and managers are entirely devoted to our guests' service.

New Moon House Lamu cooks are trained to do all guests food errands and prepare all meals. Guests can select their meals from our guideline menu and they will be served in their private dining area. Food is charged at cost and recorded in a book of accounts.
