CULTURAL EXPERIENCE TOUR (WITH SHOPPING)
African Heritage is located at the
Carnivore Restaurant, Nairobi and
is a shopping that echoes the mud architecture of
Africa - the towering mosques of Timbuktu, the Emir's
palaces of Northern Nigeria, the ornate mud palaces
of Southern Morocco, and of course the architecture
of the East African Coast, including Lamu, Mombasa
and Zanzibar.
Inside, the African Trader Gallery
celebrates the sumptuous textiles, sculpture, and
unique handicraft from Africa. The African Bead is
over 30 illuminated showcases, and takes visitors
on a tour of human history in Africa from 10000 B.C.,
through its beads, the chief item of trade to Africa
from the Middle East, Asia and Europe for over two
millennia.
Our next stop is the Utamaduni Arts and Crafts;
located in the peaceful Nairobi suburb of Langata
(with postcard views of the famous Ngong hills) Utamaduni
is housed in a former homestead with an acre of lush
gardens. There are over 30 stalls selling good quality
art and craft, jewelry, paintings etc.
Kazuri Bead Factory in Karen is our
next visit with lunch at Karen Coffee Gardens. After
lunch, proceed to Saigeri Manyatta for a Masai Cultural
experience. Here, the Programme Director gives you
a brief introductory insight into Masai Culture.
Proceed on the Masai Cultural Trail
to the Manyatta. You will witness war like dances,
performances of the customs and other Masai forms
of art. Inspection of the Masai Manyatta
