Masai Mara Safari 2 Days 1 Night Kenya Road Trip is a short safari from Nairobi for guests who do not have enough time for a longer Safari and offers you 1 night in the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve.

On day 1, we depart from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, we drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. We arrive at our camp/lodge in the Masai Mara in time for lunch. Then we take our first thrilling game drive in the Masai Mara game reserve, one of East Africa’s top safari destinations.

The Masai Mara is Kenya’s finest and most outstanding wildlife sanctuary where gentle rolling grassland ensures animals are never out of sight. Masai Mara Game Reserve is approximately 280 km West of Nairobi City. Driving will take you about 5 to 6 hours.

Our afternoon game drive takes us in search of Africa’s Big Five “Big Five” animals (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo) and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. Other animals include Masai giraffes, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyenas, topis, impalas, hartebeests, and wildebeest.

Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see Cheetahs – harder to spot but reasonably common. Masai Mara is the best place to see the famous wildebeest migration also takes place at the Mara. The Masai Mara provides the best view of the famous wildebeest migration as the animals cross the Mara River between July and August.

Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost. Returning from our first foray into Masai Mara we have dinner at camp and relax under the stars, falling asleep to the sounds of the bush.

On day 2, we take an early morning game drive before returning back for breakfast at the camp. After we depart from our safari camp/lodge with a game drive en route in the Masai Mara Reserve as we drive back to bustling Nairobi, arriving at about 1600 hours in the afternoon.

Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve

0800 Hours: This morning we depart the hotel after breakfast and drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is home to the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino.

1300 Hours: Lunch at our lodge/camp and relax before departing for the afternoon ‘Spice” game drive.

1530 Hours: The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses in the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see. Residents among the parks are Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland, and thousand of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

1830 Hours: Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Drive to Nairobi

0600 Hours: If you are not participating in the hot air balloon you enjoy morning tea/ coffee or hot chocolate followed by a morning game drive. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia trees.

0900 Hours: Return to the lodge/ camp for breakfast.

1000 Hours: We have the option to visit a Masai village before we depart by road to Nairobi.

1800 Hours: We arrive back in Nairobi and transfer to our hotel/ residence.
