Leopard
Rock Camp
is located in an exclusive wildlife area adjoining the
eastern Tarangire Park border, minutes away from the
Park boundary (Boundary Hill Gate). Camp is nestled
at the foot of two giant granite kopjes and on the banks
of a river bed dotted with natural waterhole's. The
wildlife is never far away and its presence a permanent
feature to be enjoyed from the privacy of your intimate
safari camp.
Tarangire
boasts wonderful panoramas of wide savannah grasslands
dotted with open acacia woodland and studded with large
Baobab trees. The density of game is second only to
the crowded Ngorongoro Crater. While at Leopard Rock
Camp in Tarangire, not only can you view the more common
game such as Elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra and
lion but also to see the more unusual species like lesser
and greater kudu, oryx, gerenuk and cape hunting dogs.
This is a year-round park with distinct seasons offering
different experiences, from dusty, dry and baking with
animals clustered around the rapidly reducing river,
to the bountiful green season full of new- born animals
and chattering birds. The only month to avoid is April
because of heavy rain.
Leopard
Rock Camp in Tarangire (Simply Canvas) has an exclusive
concession with the Masai land owners, and being outside
the Park, you have total freedom to walk, set up blinds
over water holes, go for bush breakfasts, starlight
dinners etc. The area is good for elephant, leopard
and lion, but there is lots of other wildlife around
as well. Leopard Rock Camp Tarangire is small and intimate
with 6 double tents and a spacious central dining tent
and bar tent. The guest tents are the large traditional
frame type with a fly sheet and verandah covering an
insect proof inner. Each has an attached flush-toilet
bathroom. Leopard Rock Camp Tarangire style is tented,
comfortable rather than luxurious and is based on intelligent
simplicity. The camp has spacious tents, queen size
beds, floor carpets, good linens, ambient and bedside
lighting. Bathrooms are en -suite with wash basin, shower
and flush toilet, using water urns and bucket gantries.
The food is tasty and healthy, and the chef ensures
it is fresh.
Leopard
Rock Camp is located fairly close to Waterholes where
natural Blinds are available to watch the animals. Children
are easily absorbed by Camp life. In contrast with many
other Tented Camps, Leopard Rock Camp welcomes children
of all ages. Different ages will be attracted to different
parts of the safari, but there is never a dull
moment in Camp for a child. The camp arranges walks
from Main Camp or Expeditionary Camp - in Tarangire
National Park or outside.

Tarangire National
Park Safari Season's
Although
June to October may be prime Dry season game viewing,
there are many safari enthusiasts who equally enjoy
the green seasons of November through March and May.
Greys and yellows have given way to verdant greens and
the Tarangire valley is more peaceful without the restless
throngs of wildebeest and zebra. The astonishing bird
life of Tarangire - Tarangire has the highest recorded
variety of breeding bird species in Tanzania - is vibrant
with breeding activity.
Many
of Tarangire's elephants prefer not to migrate away
at this time and can be watched in peace, and that other
hopeful on every wildlife outing, the leopard, can be
more easily seen against the backdrop of green.
