Leleshwa Getaway Guest House is a getaway Bush House with a Unique history built by a visiting tourist Virginia Louise who used the place as her house, today its run by Richard Mwangi a BPO Entrepreneur turned hotelier as a guest house , it’s your ideal story book house!

 

Leleshwa Getaway Guest House is situated on the South East of the Nairobi City, this magnificent house is built on a gorge; the Embakasi gorge overlooking Nairobi National Park and Sirore sanctuary. The gorge is part of the Great Rift Valley and hosts a seasonal river that is the life line for a great fauna and flora.

 

Leleshwa getaway is a small intimate getaway, perched on a cliff overlooking Nairobi national park offering guests all the rewards of what is undoubtedly one of the best and stylish locations in the metropolis.

 

The natural beauty of the riverine offers a wonderful panorama valley below. An Old Buffalo and Five ‘resident’ rock hyraxes welcome visitors to this set up and will accompany you during the stunning sunsets and sunrise moments on the wooden deck- this is not to be missed.

 

Leleshwa Getaway Guest House is a 4 bedroom house offering a perfect getaway for families, groups and couples. The house is set with 4 furnished bedrooms with solar heated showers, a large seating room, dining area, furnished kitchen and a deck. The House is open year round, accommodating guests in a uniquely designed cottage known as “bush house”.

 

The bush house is furnished with flushing toilets, showers with running hot and cold water, and the seating room is decorated with African art. The house takes privacy, luxury and the opportunity for adventure to new heights.

 

Guided nature walks, horse riding, a visit to Nairobi national park, cultural visits, bush breakfast and picnic lunches on the banks of Mbagathi River are some of the unique activities awaiting you at Leleshwa Getaway.

The neigbouring Nairobi National Park affords one the unique opportunity to view wild animals across the gorge on the rolling plains of the national Park or scattered around the vast savanna landscape with acacia trees dotting across the open plains.

 

The environment at Leleshwa Getaway Guest House is a haven for nature lovers who get to interact first hand with a host of bird life you can literally count up to 30 species on a good morning; from the white bellied bustards to white wagtails, plants ranging from medicinal to the even aphrodisiac! not to mention the wild sisal that grows exclusively on the gorge.

 

Bush walks and Horse riding are activities guests can engage in including a tour of Kitengela Glass operated by our neighbor Nani Croze of the Famous Kitengela Glass.

 

The nights at Leleshwa Getaway Guest House are unforgettable; enjoy a warm evening at the fire place in the seating room or a full bonfire under the stars. The roaring of the lions and leopards often pierce the stillness of the night- the night creatures surely proclaim themselves to the world, or even better a male’s sure way of marking his territory.

Leleshwa Getaway Guest House is located 9 Kilometers from the township of Rongai and from Nairobi you take Uhuru highways and join Langata road and proceed all the way to Bomas of Kenya. At Bomas you turn left and take Magadi road and drive all the way and turn off at Masai Lodge road direction.

 

You drive and take a right turn as you go to Nazarene University, follow the rough/off road to Swala/Ole Sirkoon centre and take a left turn to Kitengela Glass and drive past Kitengela Glass gate to Lelwshwa gate.


Leleshwa Nearby Attractions

Nairobi National Park Tour
Nairobi Animal Orphanage is the oldest animal orphanage in Kenya and set in Nairobi National Park with lush vegetation contrasting against the red dust and clay of the soil. Nairobi National park is at the backdrop of Leleshwa Getaway.

 

With prior arrangements, you can take a safari in Nairobi National park, that boast a variety of wildlife including Lion, cheetah, hyena, jackal, serval, very rare sokoke cats, warthog, ostrich, leopard, various monkeys, baboon, buffalo, Birds: Parrot, guinea fowl and crown crane.


Giraffe Centre sanctuary & Nature Walk
Giraffe Centre was established in a bid to save the endangered Rothschild Giraffe, which had lost its natural habitat in Western Kenya to agriculture and there were only 130 left in the wild.

 

A nature trail stretching about 1.5 kilometers meandering through thick bushes and forests begins directly in front of the parking lot at the Giraffe Centre. There are variety of animals that make this forest their home including the giraffes, warthogs, hyenas and times we get leopard

 

David Sheldrick Orphanage Tour
This is for orphaned elephants and rhinos open between 11:00Am and 12:00Pm. If lucky, you will get to bottle feed one of the orphans. The Trust’s expertise on the hand-rearing of wild orphans extends to species other than just the elephants and rhinos.

 

Over the years it has successfully hand-reared and repatriated back into their respective wild communities, orphans from almost all Kenya’s indigenous species.

 

However, the Trust will only undertake the hand rearing of wild orphans that can ultimately be successfully returned to the wild when grown which include all the antelope species from dikdiks to elands, zebra mares (but not the stallions), Cape buffaloes, warthogs, squirrels, mongooses, civets and genet cats, jackals and birds.

 

Kitengela Glass Factory Tour
Kitengela Glass is located near Leleshwa Getaway, at the end of a rough road. Despite this, the constant stream of visitors from all over the world never stops.

 

The magical ambience of the place is peppered with sculptures, animals and secret mosaic pathways which lead to niches of busy artisans all transforming recycled glass and scraps of other materials into beautiful artworks, jewellery and home ware.

 

Karen Blixen Museum Tour
Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. Located 10km from the city centre, the Museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya.

 

The farm house gained international fame with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’ an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s an autobiography by the same title. The Museum is open to the Public every day (9.30 am to 6pm) including weekends and public holidays.

 

Visitors are encouraged to be at the Museum by 5.30. Guided tours are offered continuously. A museum shop offers handicrafts, posters and postcards, the Movie ‘Out of Africa’, books and other Kenyan souvenirs. The grounds may be rented for wedding receptions, corporate functions and other events.
