Laragai House was built on Borana Ranch by two brothers, the Lords Valentine and Michael Cecil, who were looking for the perfect country retreat outside Nairobi. On the edge of an escarpment looking across the plains to the Northern Frontier District, the views from Laragai are stupendous with Ol Olokwe Mountain dominating the horizon and Mt Kenya looming in the clouds to the south. Laragai is situated on Borana Ranch, a 35,000-acre wildlife rich, private, working cattle ranch, 16 miles from the equator, adjacent to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. It is built on the Mokogodo Escarpment overlooking the Northern Frontier. Over 300 species of birds and a wide diversity of wildlife inhabit this area.

In its time this extraordinary house was the most opulent in Laikipia. Antiques were brought over from Ireland, china from London and furniture from Rajasthan. Today Laragai’s new owners have spared no effort in re-creating its former glory and the result is a wonderful tapestry of styles and textures, describing the property’s history whilst providing the most elegant luxury which gives Laragai its utterly unique appearance. The house accommodates ten in extreme comfort and there is plenty more room for children and nannies or safari guides. Laragai originally a large family house has now been made available to visitors. Grandeur, opulence and splendor describe this sumptuous house – everything is there to ensure you have a totally unforgettable experience. The house is booked on an exclusive-use basis, which also means that children are very welcome.

Laragai House is booked on an exclusive basis for a minimum of 6 guests. There are 6 large double rooms, 4 of which have large double beds and 2 of which have twin beds ( for kids). Laragai House is set in magnificent splendor within a rich and colorful garden. A heated swimming pool with a deck overlooks a small dam, which attracts herds of elephants, buffalo and often prides of lion. Laragai has eight bedrooms: four luxurious double rooms & two twin rooms complete with spacious en-suite bathrooms plus two children’s twin rooms sharing a bathroom. The two master bedrooms have fireplaces. Total capacity: 16 guests. Guide rooms: A double room is available in the manager’s house.
